Hailey Robinson
It was a pleasant evening but the vibes were off, like a dull weather after some sad storm that swiped off a small town. I was waiting for Chris on my usual spot when a ping sound from my phone catches my attention. Opening up the notification bar, I frown at the message from the private number.
If you value your precious life, meet me at the alley 2 blocks to the right of the hospital.
The fuck is wrong with people, Why would my life be at stake. Thinking it as a prank, I let off the bluff and slide back the phone in my pocket when it rings again. The call from the same private number.
I pick it up and don't even get the chance to say something as the voice booms from the other end, "Miss.Hailey if you think I am bluffing there is a man standing around the corner with a gun in his pocket" I look up and scan the surroundings and true to his words was a man all dressed in black who nods in my direction while simultaneously points at a gun hidden in his suit jacket, I gulp down once.
"so, hurry your ass up here or he will shoot enough holes that your medical science won't be able to fill in", the man's voice comes rough and straight. "Yes, I am showing up, don't fucking shoot, this is a hospital area for god's sake" I say irritated already.
He snorts, "then hurry your ass you bitch, I don't have my whole life for you." I hang up on him and make my way to the alley he mentioned. It was dark, as in a cornered valley what would one expect other than dark ?
Well, I was expecting a man but to my surprise Miss.Jessica too was accompanying him. I clear my throat to catch their attention when the man with black hair- appearing young in age, if my guess had to be correct he has to be not more than 30- turns around and smirks.
I cringe.
He walks near me and his smirk expands, "No wonder that bastard is pussy-whipped. You are such a beauty, Miss.Robinson." Someone scoffs, we turn our heads in unison to Jessica who speaks, "get to work, Mark." The man had a name 'Mark', why was I not surprised?
Mark clicks his tongue, "ahh yess, but I thought you were going to do the honours Jess." Now it was time for Jessica to smirk, she looks down for something on her phone while walking towards me- who was standing still.
Her hands tap several times and a second later the screen was facing my eyes. My gaze stills on the photo, Chris was cradling an unconscious Jessica. If I am to take a guess, it was the waiting area to the office building for Chris' comapny. A strong attempt to hide my disgusts fails, I knew it had to be some cheap trick as she says, "Lovely, isn't it?"
I wanted to scoff but also on the other hand wanted to see the other tricks she had up her sleeves, she retrieves the phone back, taps something and a second later the screen was facing my eyes, again.
My eyes widen to the video being played on the screen. Horror fills me up inside out and dread starts climbing up my throat. I stutter, "This cannot be true, you are lying."
Batting her lashes, she pouts, "is it so dear Hailey?" Taps the screen again, "it's okay, even we were mistaken that it cannot be you, but look carefully Hailey, it's you, isn't it ?" The video plays again, I frown, narrow my eyes and observe carefully.
True to her words it was me, definitely Me.
But there was no way in the world it could be true, I scream, "this is not true." Mark grabs me by my shoulders and seethes, "shut the fuck up bitch." I slap him straight on his face, he staggers a few steps back but holds himself before falling, I grit out, "touch me again and I'll show you what an incision without anesthesia feels like."
