Hailey Robinson
Electricity runs through me, buzzing every nerve ending in my body and lighting my insides. My vision was black, the darkness blinding me from the world. The sparks ring in my ears at a deafening frequency. Scared I try to move my limbs but fail. It felt like there were ties secured to all the limbs of my body, restricting me to move and run from those burning stings running inside my body.
My whole body convulsed under some shock. I could feel a thousand ants walking on my body but my paralyzed state had bound me, unable to clear them off me. There were numerous beeps ringing inside my brain as some sweet melody I'd be hearing once in my lifetime. It felt suspiciously weird to be in this state.
Another bursts of electricity runs through me, numbing me down and binding me to nothingness. My insides were on fire but my body felt light. Light as a feather, lighter than ever. It felt like I was floating involuntarily. My state of my mind was somewhere else and I was bound somewhere else. The light in front of my eyes kept fading and blinding me.
It felt like boulders placed on my eyes, my lids heavy- reason of my inability to open my eyes. The more I tried the more it got difficult to open my eyes. I was screaming inside my brain, wanting to open my eyes, move my limbs and walk, walk somewhere. Somewhere in a world where I had grown a life better than my own. A life where I actually had remembered it, those memories I'd make with my parents and with all those I never had in my life.
The feeling of fading somewhere unknown was coursing through my vessels. It felt like a tight ring wrapped around my brain, giving my severe headache. Pain was a much familiar sensation on every inch of my skin, muscles, seeping down my bones. There was a twisting sensation in my ribcage, my heart was bleeding in pain and ugly crying over the pain running through and through it.
My insides on fire, threw me in a state where I wanted to just find a scalpel and plunge it in my heart. The intensity of pain was rising and growing to an extent that I wished death just engulfs me instead. Asking for a death wasn't just as easy as being said, the pain of going through it was some sort of journey one makes to hell. It was painful, so painful that I just wished it ended even on the cost of my life.
The pain refusing to subside was heating me from insides, my head felt heavy. The ringing in my ears rose, rose to decibels that I went deaf. All I could hear was sharp and severe ringing and beeping around me. My vision never cleared but it was fading, fading to a place unknown to me but it did felt like a deja vu.
It was my 22nd birthday and last year to my medical college, later I'd be a resident. My emotions were high on sky as Lina was back in town and we were going to a club to celebrate. I'd be honest, I never liked club and partying anyways but I was going to be back with her after 3 years being apart due to senior college.
I shimmed inside my black dress, reaching up to my knees and slipped in my black ankle boots, pasted some mascara, lipstick and head out to our rendezvous point. Waiting for her can be tiresome as she takes double the time I use to get ready for any event, let it be a big wedding or a small clubing.
Glancing down on my wrist watch, I calculated her for 15 minutes late. Another minute and a pair of hands wrap around me and she shrieks, "Happy Birthday to Dr.Robinson!" "Thank you", I reply. Lina loosens the bone crushing hug and looks me up and down, whistles lightly, "the birthday girl is going to get the stage on fire."
I raise an eyebrow, lift my arm up and point at the watch, "You are late missy." She whines, links her arm with mine and we start walking to her car, "you know me, Daniel was taking more time in helping me select an outfit." A small smile makes it's way on my face; I turn to face her and look at her best puppy eyes look.
