So Chris picks me up from the hospital and told me he has to go to meet Nick. We had dinner and a full make out session before he left for his meet up with Nick.
But what was eating me was the way he showed up back home after the meet up.
No alcohol but he seemed expression-less and blank. I tried talking to him but he locked me out saying he needs some time alone.
For the night we slept in separate rooms, not that it was problematic but the worry about Chris' wellbeing was eating me up like a parasite on a host body. I was going crazy about this as all I wanted to do was pull Chris to myself and give him a big hug and soothe him but on other hand I wanted to respect the alone time he'd ask for.
I leave that morning without disturbing him as seemingly he hadn't woken up or according to my instincts he hadn't even been out form the room for even once since he got in from the moment he came back home.
My day at hospital goes in blur, some updates, files, reports, case discussion, a kid who appeared to have swallowed a coin etc. Picking up my bag, I make my way out hoping Chris would be here to pick me up but much to my disappointment he wasn't.
I head towards my favourite café that was located nearby the hospital. I order myself some salad and a drink as a takeout and walk towards the stop for bus and sit on the bench there.
Having second thoughts on going home were making my senses lose their own sanity. So instead, like a cavemen I open the box of my takeout and start digging in my salad with the plastic fork.
Hunger did have the good of me as 15 minutes into the food and I had emptied the contents of the takeout in my stomach. Wow, I was literally feeling like a caveman as I just had my food for good 15 minutes in public at a nice cold evening. I threw the box and the can in the trash and waited for the next bus to show up.
Maybe I'll be taking a longer route today as somehow I wasn't in a mood to go home early.
Another minute pass by and it felt like the streets had quite down. As there were not much people on that area, the alley went quite even though there is a hospital like literally in the range of 10 minutes of walk. Then a black car approaches and stops a good of 4-5 steps away from me.
I ignore it and turn my head in some other random direction but what catches my attention is a man coming out from the car. He was masked or more precisely dressed in black from tip to toe and my sense told me he was heading for me and that's exactly what happened. He stops a feet distance away from me.
I drink in his form- a black suit, huge muscular form, olive brown skin, thick brows, jet black hair, jaw- hard and bunched and was looking in his 50s. He walks near me and that's when I notice he was holding a bouquet of tulips in his hand.
Why do I have a feeling I've seen him somewhere?
"Hailey", he says in the form of a whisper. I was hesitant whether I should agree to him about my name being Hailey because he can be trouble. Though I give in a nod to which he extends the bouquet of tulips towards me. I take a look at the bouquet.
"Do I know you?" I voice my first doubt to him. He lets out a small shrug,"Guess we'll find out." Huh ! What does this means by that? "Sorry but I don't know you, sir", I was trying to keep myself polite but if shit goes wrong I had a plan on my mind, kick and attack and run, run like a mf marathon runner.
His eyebrows scrunch up and forehead wrinkles as he says,"Even I have my doubts, anyways this is for you",extending his hand further. The tulips were in some shade of pink or if I am being accurate they were baby pink in colour and it looked like there were roughly 10-12 in numbers. He was still holding it in the hand and my confusion got good of me.
