I've always wondered why people standardize so much importance to birthdays where for me it's nothing but a dreadful day and a hole in my heart from last year. From that very day it scared me, it pains me to even spare a second on thinking to celebrate my birthday while I try to think what happened to this very day last year. It's horrible to think I'll never have answers to this and even horrible to think the various possibilities to answers, so I try kicking out that through the window.

But this year it seems to be different, instead of the black screen of nothing in front of my eyes, I open them from my sleep and was met with the rainbow colours. The bed was empty besides me indicating Chris woke up earlier than me which was unusual because on a normal day, I am the first one to wake up. I turn to the other side to grab my phone to check on time when my eyes land on a gorgeous and beautiful bouquet of tulips and roses.

I straighten up from my position and reach out to pick up the flowers and lean on the headboard after having them in my hands. The tulips were in some royal shade of purple while the roses were three in colours- royal purple, lavender and white. I sniff them lightly and turn my head to the table to grab my phone when my eyes land on a bright red rose and below it was a note.

I pick up both of them and read out the note. The writing on the note definitely belonged to Chris.

This dude had literally signed at the end and my heart went jelly, all its water evaporated as the heat of cuteness was being applied to it. The word 'love' in the note was a dead giveaway that he had already planned the day in his head and I wasn't going to refuse it because looking at the flowers, the one red rose with note, my brain refuses to let some other event spoil Chris' hard work.

All while in the shower and putting on my clothes I was grinning from ear to ear like a Cheshire cat and had a huge smile on my face. I may have agreed to date him but just those flowers and note were making me blush harder that it was difficult to come down from all that serotonin and the best part is that the day has just begun.

I make my way to kitchen but halt a few steps away from it when I see Chris in his dress shirt, suit pants, hair all set with gel and nicely combed with one hair strand falling to his forehead while he was setting up the breakfast table.

My eyes take in to his work and the table was looking colourful, like straight away from those pictures of holiday getaways from some international destination. Like an early morning breakfast in a hotel of Paris set up in the balcony with a stunning view outside, but this was right inside our home in the kitchen.

Approaching closer I clear my throat to have his attention and it works as he looks up from the table after settling the glass down. His facial features soften when he sees me, making his way to me, his hands straight away grabs mine. He pulls me closer to him by jerking my hands, his hands go down my waist and mine go to his shoulders for support.
