They travel back home and even though Angel has wanted to visit home for a long time. She got to visit within two weeks, and the first time wasn't a pleasant one.
Angel's hand reached for the doorknob and this house that was once her safe haven is now a place she fears to enter. Tristan placed his hands on top of hers, assuring her that she wasn't doing this alone. She smiled and nodded.
They pushed the door open and the first person she saw was her mother. She stood just by the dinning and quickly dropped the cup she was holding.
"Angel..." She trailed and then noticed Tristan was behind her. The words went back inside her mouth. Her dad walked downstairs and saw them.
He smiled because he was certain Angel brought Tristan to face her fears.
"Hey, mom," Angel whispers to her mom. She looked at her mom with fear. "Tristan and I are getting married and before you say anything, we didn't come here to get your permission. We are only here to let you know that we're taking a huge step together and it doesn't matter anymore if you support us or not. I love Tristan with everything that makes me whole and I know he's good for me." Angel rants, swinging his hands here and there while her mom just stares at her. "The question isn't if he's good for me, the question is... Am I good enough for him?" She finished and then exhaled loudly.
She couldn't tell what the expression on her mom's face was. She suddenly felt Tristan's hands holding her firmly.
"I don't want this family torn apart just because she chose to be with me. I know you think you only want what's best for her but I think if that's truly what you want, then you'd let her choose whom she wants to marry and give that person a chance at least" Tristan finally speaks.
Her dad takes a step towards them but stops abruptly when he hears Angel's mom speak.
"You've grown to be a better woman than I wanted you to be. I got caught up in trying to make you a better version of me when I should've supported the version of yourself that was already growing." She walked close to them and held Angel's hands. "I didn't know that I was making myself the villain in the process" she began tearing up. "All those years you left, and never talked to me were the hardest for me. I came to see you the other day in school but I lied about coming for a job because I didn't want you to think that I was weak" she confessed. "When instead I should've showed you my weakness, which is you" she leaned her head forward and cupped her face with her hands. "You are my happiness and if Tristan makes you truly happy then I am as well happy" her voice began to break as she cried.
"Mom..." Angel said and hugged her passionately. She hugs back and sobs loudly. "I am so sorry I drove you two apart, I am sorry for making you hate me" she cried. Angel cried and looked at her mother. "I didn't hate you. I was just...."
"Shh it's okay. Your feelings are valid and all I care about right now is you. I missed talking to you, having our moments" Angel's mom replied.
She looked over Angel's shoulders and smiled at Tristan. She moved closer to him and held his hands. "I am so ashamed of myself. My first impression has been ruined and I don't know if you can give me another chance" she pleaded. "Of course," Tristan smiled. "I can't wait to get to know you," she added. "I am so proud of you," Angel's Dad said, kissing Angel on the forehead.
They have the maids prepare lunch while they talk about a lot of things. They have so much to talk about. Especially Angel and her mom.
"You did!?" Angel's mom asked, excitedly. Angel told her about the huge role she played in school, the contract ahead of her and of course her awesome friends. Her mom was so excited and happy to have her daughter back. She paid attention to everything Angel told her and realized how much of Angel's life she has missed.
