The month seemed to go like lightning being struck, and before everyone fully grasped the concept that they were actually doing a showcase, the day came. All the classrooms were filled with paintings, experiments and pottery. Students stood beside their creations with a proud smile on her face. The school decided to keep the refreshments in the gym so the students and guests could eat after the film that Class 234 worked on. But somehow, a group of classmates managed to sneak in for some food.
"Oh look, drinks" said Daniel Blanc excitedly and grabbed one of the glasses filled with purple liquid. He downed his glass in one breath. He scrunched his eyes and tried to spit the juice out. "I wouldn't drink that if I were you. There's no sugar. It's purple cabbage juice" commented his friend Chris, who thanked his lucky stars that he had heard the rumour of the juice. "You could've mentioned that" said Daniel, his eyes watering. Lily and Jessie stifled their giggles.
People were starting to come to the great hall and the group decided they should too. Lily took a seat next to Noah and looked at the agenda in his hand. "Look at Janet" smirked Noah. Janet Mills was talking to the principal with a Cheshire cat smile on her face. The parents and guests were talking excitedly and the students from other classes looked eagerly at the screen. Janet wanted to keep the film a complete secret and scolded anyone who tried to spy on their rehearsals. She even managed to scare off a classmate who tried to give them some grapes from her garden.
"Welcome! It is with great sadness that I announce that the Annual showcase of Brooklyn High is almost over. We have seen the brilliant minds and creativity of the students on this day and I assume that you are all proud as I am. So to end things with a bang...Class 234 have created a film for us to watch. Without wasting much time...let us come together and watch this piece of movie magic" the principal said and the doors closed. It was dark....until a light emitted from the screen.
Finally, the film started.
"I hate you!" Maximus/Noah yelled. "Well I hate you more!" Nora/Lily shouted. "To your rooms!" said David/Chris. "What is with all the shouting? Can't you be silent for a few seconds?" said Sidney/Daniel. There was a silence for a second and Sidney sighed in relief. Then the shouting began again.
Everyone chuckled as the film progressed.
Overall, it was a great success. Everyone cheered and whistled as 'THE END' appeared on the screen. "Are you...crying?" asked Lily looking at Noah. "No....someone must have chopped onions here," said Noah. Janet gave everyone a genuine beam, much to everyone's surprise.
"Thank you! That was certainly a film I will never forget. Now I imagine you all must be hungry, so if you could all proceed to the great hall..." the principal said but stopped as the screen lit up again. Everyone looked confused. Black letters appeared on the white screen.
