THREE YEARS AGO

"So let me get this straight-"

"You wanted us to have a family picnic-"

"And yet you forgot the blanket-"

"And the food?"

Mr. Blanc rubbed his neck sheepishly as his family looked at him in disbelief. Mrs. Blanc rubbed her temple and came up with a quick plan. "Dan, Lil...go get the food from the market...it's just around the corner...your father and I will get the blanket" she said. As the children raced to the store, Lucy Blanc looked at her husband sternly. "Derek" she said accusingly. "I know...I know" her husband replied.

The siblings were looking at the drinks area. They scanned for water bottles and squinted their eyes. "What are you kids looking for?" asked a man with a black cap and sunglasses. "Looking for water" replied Daniel, not taking his eyes off the drinks. The man gave an amused snort and pointed them to the water bottles. "Thanks mister" Lily said, giving him a toothy smile. Daniel looked at him suspiciously. "I've seen you before somewhere" he muttered. "Have you ever been to Broadway?" the unknown man asked. The siblings nodded. "Well...I work behind the scenes of the famous stage" he said. "That's amazing" said Lily as Daniel gave a low whistle. "Yes...It is" he said, smiling. "I want to be an actress someday" remarked Lily. "Maybe you will...I might see you on stage in a few years" winked the man.

That was when Lily became determined to become an actress. Not only because she loved the stage, but she felt it was worth it to see the unknown man who pointed them to the water bottles.

Because,

He didn't give them his name.
