The Blanc garage was quiet. Noah Canterbury, Daniel Blanc and Jessie Nolan were staring at their feet. It had only been half an hour since Annie Canterbury stormed out and Lily Blanc chased after her. There were three knocks. Noah opened the door and felt faint at the sight. "What?" asked Daniel concerned and saw his sister, Annie, Janet along with Josh and Luke. He felt lightheaded. Janet locked the door and glared at the strangers with her hands on her hips. "Someone better start talking" she said. "Being bossed by the mayor's daughter...oh snap" Annie chuckled. "You-" Janet pointed to Josh "you work for Lady A and you-" she continued and pointed at Luke "You helped us before in New York and yet you know this dude".
"Can someone please explain what this is?" asked Jessie. "Talk about the drama" Noah muttered to Lily, who nodded in response.
"I don't see why we should answer to a bunch of obnoxious teenagers," said Josh. "We might be 'obnoxious teenagers' but we're this close-" Annie left a small space between her fingers "to finding Lady A and stopping all this gossip". The two men looked at them in surprise. Josh frowned. "You both were at Genue's when I was with Ginerva" he looked at the Blanc siblings. "We know what you're up to. You want some kind of thing from Lady A but my mom won't allow it" Janet said firmly, yet her voice wavered slightly as her mother was mentioned. "Your mother is Lady A?" Josh asked. "Don't play dumb" Annie hissed. "So, our suspicions were correct?" Daniel asked, looking at her sister for confirmation.
"Listen here you little pip squeaks, only Ginerva knows her identity. I'm just giving her the headlines and details" Josh said. "Why?" asked Lily. "She has...something against me" Josh answered lamely.
"It's Josh's daughter" Luke spoke for the first time. Josh gave him a look of betrayal. The group looked at each other in surprise. "I lost my job a few years back and couldn't keep affording to my little Rosie. She was sent to a different family when the authorities found out. I came here because I tried out for so many jobs and no one wanted to hire me. When I came to Brooks, Ginerva came to Genue's. We talked and then she offered me a job. I was so eager to get Rosie back, I regret saying yes now since she won't let me leave" Josh explained, his voice cracked in between. Lily looked at Daniel, understanding completely. If they got separated, it didn't matter how cliché it sounded, they'd run to the ends of the Earth to find each other.
"How do you two know each other?" asked Noah. "Josh is my brother. We were born in New York, and when he told me what he got himself into...I had to help. When I found out what you all were up to...those magazines I showed you were supposed to help" Luke explained.
"Instead of the usual silence we had, I want to change all of this. Help us, and you'll be able to get your daughter back" Janet said. The two brothers didn't look convinced. "We can get the money you need. We don't want this gossip lady in our town" Jessie said. The brothers looked at each other, still doubtful. Sighing, Josh asked,
"Where do we start?"
