In New York, a couple weeks ago...

Lily, Noah, Daniel and Luke coughed as the manager dropped a box filled with old editions of 'off-script'. "Help yourselves" the manager muttered and left, day dreaming about the half-eaten doughnut he still had the pleasure of finishing. Lily looked eagerly into the box and grabbed the top edition. She flipped through the pages and her eye caught the last page.

Due to the unfortunate circumstances that has occurred, I must hasten along. There are bigger headlines planned for Brooks. I consider myself to be a distinguished writer and will see you all very soon.

"Like I said before, that is just creepy" Jessie said, shaking her head. Annie shrugged and closed her locker. Lily, Daniel and Noah had rushed to their classes. "I'll go to the library and see whether I can find something," said Jessie. "On Lady A?" asked Janet. "No, on biodiversity. We have to write at least 2 pages on it and I'm pretty sure everyone will be copy pasting from the internet" groaned Jessie and went off to the library. Annie chuckled. A group of girls were staring at Janet. "It's rude to stare" Annie snapped. Feeling slightly nervous, Janet tried to get to her class early when one of the girls blocked her path.

"Amelia" said Janet, trying to sound enthusiastic. "Janet...you've been distant these past months. Anything wrong?" asked Amelia in a sickly sweet voice. Janet didn't reply. "She's trying to get to class and you are blocking her way" informed Annie firmly and grabbed Janet by the arm. Inwardly, Annie felt slightly shocked, usually Janet stood her ground. "I'm concerned for my friend; I wouldn't want her mingling with the wrong sort" said Amelia snidely.

There was a pause.

"I think I'll be fine. Thank you for your concern though". Sending Amelia a sweet smile, Janet walked away, with a dumbfound Annie behind her. "You just did that" she gaped. Janet paused.

"Yeah, yeah I did"

They fell into silent giggles right at the corridor, remembering Amelia's flabbergasted face. Passing students stared at them strangely. Even the Janitor looked concerned. Once their laughter subdued,

"I'm sorry" said Annie. "If I knew about how cool you were, we would be friends way back"

"Except you were always evil eyeballing me" mocked Janet sarcastically. Annie punched her arm playfully. "But in all seriousness...forget the past and let's start the future. It's never too late" Janet said warmly and the two entered to their physics class, where their homework load would rise an alarming amount.
