Chapter 7 | First Clue Provider

Janet, Noah, Annie, Jessie and Lily were currently in an empty classroom. Janet was sitting on a chair while the others were gathered around her. Noah examined the scrap of paper.

Lady A

"You think this gossip woman is in New York?" asked Annie. Janet nodded. "Where did you find this?" asked Jessie. "In my mom's office" replied Janet. Everyone stared at her. "You stole from the mayor?" questioned Lily. Janet gave her a glare, "My mother already knows this. She already contacted the police".

"Then we're booking tickets to New York" declared Annie. "Hold your horses...we can't just go to New York. And I doubt our parents would just say 'oh yeah sure you can go'. They'll realize we're missing and it'll be a riot" reminded Noah. "Lady A has been a mystery for a decade...well enough of the secrecy. I'm going. I can't let other people's lives get ruined." stated Jessie.

"We can't all go. We need to plan this" said Lily reasonably. Noah looked at her in disbelief. The girls looked at him. He looked back at the paper then at them. "Fine. But if I'm going to jail, it'll be your fault I won't be on screen"

"Great. But we'll need more help" Annie muttered. "I'm helping...you're not the only one who doesn't want their names in that horrible person's magazine" Janet said. Annie eyed her suspiciously. "The only thing you do is yell at us. What gives you the right to even come with us?" she asked. "I found the only thing that we can call as a clue" answered Janet. "Why give it to us? Why not your friends?" Annie said the last word in a mocking way. "You wanted to solve this mystery, I gave you the first clue" replied Janet, giving Annie a cold stare. Jessie quickly intervened before things could get heated. "Let's not fight about this. It's only fair Janet tags along...first clue provider and all" she said hastily. Lily and Noah nodded. "Fine" Annie groaned.

The bell rang and they made plans to meet after school the next day. As they went their separate ways, it seemed as if a single candle had lightened a dark room. They found a source that could help them. Hope

But that was least of the surprises the world had to offer. Lily and Daniel had just arrived home when they heard excited yells from the living room. "Guess what? Remember that book I sent to the NY drive...well...I won! And so did Amelia Canterbury" said Lucy Blanc happily. "Guests are invited including family," shouted Derek Blanc. "Which means..." said Daniel grinning. "We're going to New York City" Lily asked in disbelief. Her family nodded happily while Lily stared in shock.
