Annie Canterbury stared at her phone and let out a noise of frustration. Cookie whined and tried to get Annie's attention. "They'll come back boy" said Annie sadly. The Blanc family asked Annie to keep their dog until they returned, so Annie took Cookie on a walk. She was sitting on the bench while Cookie had run around the park and chased other dogs or his tail. She stared at the picture that Janet had sent her. They decided not to search it online in case anyone found out. The language wasn't familiar to her but Jessie had a translation book that would hopefully work.
She looked at her favourite picture to distract herself. It was Jessie, Lily and herself grinning at the camera like idiots. She couldn't help but chuckle every single time she saw it.
"I am so sorry" said Jessie for the tenth time that day.
Lily grumbled under her breath. She was wearing her school t-shirt because her other shirt was covered in goo. She didn't dare ask what the ingredients were. Annie Canterbury had created a volcano for a science project and put a 'don't push' sign on the red button that would erupt lava, or in this case, some shaving cream and paint mixed together. The curious Jessie of course had to push it. In her case, "You can't expect someone to put a red button and say "do not push" and expect them to not to...the urge is just too strong".
Annie was nervous. It had only been a week and she was already getting expelled. She just knew it. She had wanted to impress the class, not interrupt it. And here she was sitting outside the principal office with the curious class girl and the disgruntled victim. Would she get disowned for being such a failure?
Annie laughed, remembering how worried and nervous she was every time. She felt a little hungry and decided to make a quick stop at the grocery store. After making the shop keeper promise that Cookie was house-trained (Annie hoped he was) she grabbed some snacks for her and Cookie. She went to the counter to pay when she noticed the newest edition of 'Off-script'. "That Lady A woman is just causing trouble I reckon" the shop keeper said in his Scottish accent when he saw her looking at the magazine. Annie merely hummed as an answer and took a closer look.
IS BROOKS SAFE WITH WILD ANIMALS ON THE LOOSE?
Annie read the topic and looked at it in disgust. To her knowledge, there had never been a wild animal loose in Brooks, the small town didn't even have a zoo. Unless Lady A was talking about a person, Annie thought. This made her blood boil.
STAY TUNED FOR TOMMORROW'S SPICY GOSSIP
Annie quickly took her groceries and went out with Cookie without another word. She was determined to find who Lady A was.
