Welcome back to 'True Stars', a true podcast! I'm your host, Jared Hollins, and I'm here with Lily Blanc and Noah Canterbury to talk about their new Broadway show, Echo.
To give a quick recap of Echo, it's about a father who lost his job and is unable to provide for himself and his sister. But...they survive in the end with songs in their hearts.
First of all, Noah...how do you write stuff like this? I mean, I cried watching Echo
Aww, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Well, I mean...I've had great experiences in life. I've met people with courage and bravery. It's easy to just write them down, and see it from that particular person's perspective. I guess, making stories is what I do best.
Yes, thank god you decided to be a script writer. Lily, since this was your first directing opportunity, how did it feel to work with your childhood best friend?
Oh gosh, I mean...I've known Noah since middle school and we've always been that iconic and geeky duo. I think that many people thought I got the chance because I knew Noah, and I believed that for a while too...but I realized that's not the case. I mean, everyone has their own thoughts and they can create rumours all they want. I've been under the spotlight for most of my life...figuratively before and now literally. I got the spot from my own talent, and I'm willing to believe that.
It was just amazing to sort of see the play come to together. When we had our first full rehearsal, I just had to cry. I've worked on this play for a while so it's amazing when you see the cast and costumes come together on stage. Noah had to go outside to collect himself.
Yeah, I had a school project like that. How was it working with the cast?
Amazing! Beth Anderson who plays Lizzie, did an amazing performance on opening night. She was reading her script when she had breaks from online school.
Yeah, and she had amazing chemistry with her co-stars. Chris is like a second father to her at this point.
Anything new coming up? Perhaps this could be the moment of an exclusive scoop?
I'm relaxing a bit these days, but I may have something up my sleeve
Yeah, I think I saw an spider crawl in there
WHAT?
