"Wait a minute...I bumped into you today" said the man with dark hair. "I found them sneaking in" said the security guard eagerly. "Let them go Yuri...I doubt they came here to steal" said the man kindly and the guard left, slightly crestfallen. Lily was about to thank the man when Daniel stepped in front of her. "What mystery?" he asked sharply. "Did I say mystery? I meant-" she broke off. Lily had never kept a secret from her big brother.
"Lady A..." Lily mumbled.
"And you thought you could solve this with Noah?" he asked.
"With Jessie, Annie and Janet as well" Noah muttered under his breath but Daniel heard him.
"Why the public library?" asked Daniel. "We think it might lead us to a clue. The others found one back home. We were hoping to shake you off so we can find information from other libraries or shops...or anything really" Lily explained desperately.
Daniel looked at the two of them. "You're my sister" his eyes softened for a second "There is no way you're doing this alone. We're the Blanc siblings. I'm coming with you" he said firmly. Lily opened her mouth to say something when the man interrupted. "I love a tender moment...but I'm still here" he said, raising his hand. Daniel rubbed his neck sheepishly. "Thank you" Noah said, referring to Yuri. "He tries to act tough but Yuri's a teddy bear" the man replied, waving his hand carelessly. Daniel looked at him thoughtfully.
"You kind of look like that guy we met about three years ago at the Midtown Grocery Store" stated Daniel. "Are you two the siblings that were looking for a water bottle? Whoa...you've grown up fast" the man chuckled. Noah looked lost. "My name is Luke Ryans, I never asked your names" he added. "Daniel and Lily Blanc" the oldest Blanc pointed to her younger sister. "And this is my friend Noah Canterbury" added Lily. "Pleasure" nodded Noah. "How do you remember us?" asked Daniel, amazed and a little envious of his memory. Maybe those mathematic equations won't be so hard anymore, he thought. "You two aren't easy to forget, plus, working here means you meet a lot of people...I have to take coffee orders for ten people. You remember when you see them. Why are you guys in Times Square?" asked Luke"
"I have a teeny tiny feeling that you already know from our argument" Lily said. "I should report this to your parents" said Luke sternly. The teens looked at their shoes. "But then again, I don't really know you...so...be careful" he added as the teens grinned up at him. "So what mystery is this all about?" asked Luke curiously. "What do you know about Lady A?" asked Noah. "Everyone knows about her...well...I think it's a her but who knows? I'm guessing you want to find out...are you from Brooks, that's where she's causing most of the gossip isn't it? I read it an article" explained Luke. Daniel nodded.
"Were you born here?" Lily asked Luke. "Born and raised" he answered. Lily's phone started to ring and she handed it to Daniel. "You missed the library tour! Where are you?" asked Mrs. Blanc. Lily turned white. Their one ticket left them. Noah checked his phone and his eyes brightened up. "On our way mom" Daniel replied.
"We missed it..." Lily muttered faintly. "Missed what?" asked Daniel, confused. Lily couldn't speak and showed him a picture of the scrap of paper that Janet had showed them.
"Lily" said Noah.
"I can't believe it...we missed our chance" Lily muttered.
"Maybe we can sneak in...we snuck in here..." suggested Daniel
"I'm still here" Luke reminded
"Lily" Noah tried again.
"I should've told you what we were doing in the first place"
"LILY!" Noah yelled. Everyone else stared at him.
DING
"Ummm...Lil...you might want to check your mystery group chat" Daniel said and handed her phone back to her.
