"Phil Returns," regular, Dan's POV, kinda-sorta-but-not-really part of the next three chapters

DAN'S POV

It was a cloudy 10 AM, and Phil is in the kitchen making us both some omelettes. I'm currently being a lazy bum in my sofa crease, Tumblring full on. Finally I hear the stove turn off, and Phil getting some silverware. He brings two plates of food into the living room. "How's that browsing position, Dan?" he asks with a chuckle. "Better than ever," I replied. "Thanks for making some food, smells great." "Oh yeah, I put some cheese and bits of ham in there too. I also brought in some chili sauce, I know you fancy that with your eggs," Phil says, handing me a plate. I thank him and pat the sofa seat next to me. "Join my browsing time," I say, and we laugh. update: FOR THOSE OF YOU WHINING ABOUT CHEESE CALM YO TITS THIS IS FICTION OK JFC STFU

Phil and I had just taken our first bite when he jumped up. "Wait!" he cried, "we're missing some tea!" I laughed. "Mind reheating my cup?" Phil took my cup of tea with a laugh as he went back into the kitchen. I finished my plate of eggs when he came back, and then we proceeded to have breakfast together. In the middle of breakfast, Phil put on some anime, and we watched it for a bit, but then it got boring.

"Do you have any plans today?" I ask Phil, turning to look at him and away from my computer screen. Phil shook his head: "I got none. I was actually considering making a video today, but if you wanted to do something, I can put it off for tomorrow." "Okay... why not take a walk in town?" I suggest. Phil said that sounded good, so I picked myself up off the sofa crease (which was looking extremely concave today) and took our plates and mugs to the kitchen sink to wash them. I heard Phil get up too, to go to the bathroom to run a shower.

I had high hopes for our plans today, as I really wanted to spend some time with my best friend. Not like we didn't already spend loads of time as is, but recently Phil went on a trip to visit his family up north and I was left alone for quite a while. It's hard to go nights without him there to comfort me after intense insomnia, no one to watch anime with or cook crazy concoctions with. A few days without Phil felt like a few years, and that sounds even worse. I was glad to have him back.

Speak of the devil; I heard Phil get out of the shower not because the water had stopped, but because now I could hear him humming quite loudly. "Phil?" I asked. "Yes?" "What are you humming?" the humming stopped, and out popped a blushing Phil with a towel around his waist. His fringe was dripping all over the carpet. "I was actually trying to hum the song you're writing on the piano but I kinda failed," he said, chuckling. I laughed. "Want me to play it for you?" I asked. "Yes please!" he said excitedly. I walked into my room where my piano was and started to play my song loud enough for him to hear from the other room. I could hear Phil shuffling his feet to the beat in the bathroom and started laughing. Then Phil started laughing too, and then we started laughing so loud and so hard the neighbors yelled at us.

Yup, it was good to have Phil back.

Once our fringes were straight (I hate my Hobbit hair but Phil thinks it's great), Phil and I left our apartment and started to walk down the street to a Starbucks to grab some coffee for lunch. I waited in line to order the drinks whilst Phil was off to find a booth away from the cold door at the front of the restaurant.

After waiting for a bit for the drinks, I carried them slowly over to Phil, who had lost all contact to humans as he played on his iPhone trying to get a new high score on Crossy Road. "What's your high score?" I said jokingly, scooting into the booth. Phil laughed, insisting that it was fun. I slurped a sip of my coffee. "How's it out of 10," Phil said, taking a sip now of his. I paused for a moment, thinking over how many llamas out of 10 my drink was. "13 llamas out of 10," I concluded. Phil threw his head back in laughter, then said his was 12 llamas out of 10. "Do you want to have a taste?" I offered, pushing my coffee over to him. Phil nodded and took a sip. "Yeah, yours is really good!" he said. "Mine's just a bit cold." We talked about coffee and llamas some more, and then finally we left, but not before I bought a chocolate muffin for Phil.

Walking down the pavement gave me time to think about Phil and I's friendship. I wouldn't have asked for it any other way, but there's always that pinpoint of fear under the skin, the fear that someday one of us will move out. It scares me. I hate thinking about it, but it's always a thought nagging me in the back of my head. Phil was a few years older than me, more intelligent and was much better at holding a conversation with people... and then there was me, awkward Dan. "Danisnotonfire, are you there?" Phil said, throwing me out of my thoughts. I nodded my head. "Yup. I'm here."

After walking around the city a bit, weaving in and out of nerdlands (We bought a Deathnote poster... anime shops are the best), Phil and I went back to our flat.

"Daaaan cmon you can do it!" Phil said, dragging his words, growing impatient. He was already at our door and I was still slithering up the steps. "Okay, I'm coming... just a few... few more steps..." I wheezed. When I looked up, I saw Phil standing there at the door, tapping his foot with a small smile on his face. "Dan, are you sure you're okay? Can we go in now?" he asked. I nodded to both questions as Phil pushed the door open. At least he waited for me.

"Man it's always quite sad to not be greeted home by anyone," I said out loud as Phil went into the kitchen. I was walking to the lounge when he popped out once more. "Want me to make you some tea?" he asked. "Yes please," I said. "I'm queuing up Smash Bros and saving you a controller if you wanna play." Phil nodded. "Yeah, I'd love that!"

An hour later, after competitive gaming and snacking, Phil got a bit sleepy. I could hear him yawn every now and then, so I got up from my sofa crease (with internal screaming because I really did not feel like moving, -2/10 would recommend) and brought back a blanket and a pillow.

I carefully draped it over Phil and tucked it in around him as he read his book on the other side of the couch. He started laughing at me, "Dan, what're you doin?", but stopped laughing when he saw I was only caring, and formed his lips into a soft smile. "Thank you, Dan," he said. I blushed and gave a small "You're welcome."

A few minutes passed; all I could hear was the clock on the wall ticking and the heart buried in my chest thumping loudly. Phil finally broke the silence. "Dan," he said quietly, "would you like to share the blanket with me?" I nodded so hard I thought my head was going to fly off, and Phil pulled back the blanket to make room for me. I crawled into the warm space and nuzzled up against Phil as he set the blanket back down around me. We gave deep sighs of content, and he yawned again. "I literally just now have to pee, as soon as we're both comfy together," Phil said, his voice sounding a bit sad. I started laughing really hard; leave it to AmazingPhil and Danisnotonfire for bad timing. Phil got up and patted my head before he left the room. I just smiled and closed my eyes briefly as I waited for Phil to return so we could snuggle some more, except that was a bad idea, as I found sleep creeping up on me.

By the time Phil returned from the bathroom, I was mostly asleep. Through the depths of my sleep I heard him chuckle, mumble something, and... was he carrying me? I felt Phil scoop my fat arse up off the couch and carry me down the hallway into a room. I couldn't tell if it was his or mine, but finally I felt him return the gesture, as he was now the one to tuck me in. Then I felt him get in next to me. It felt great.

Phil kissed my cheek. "Goodnight, Dan."

Phil kissed my cheek? That was new...

Ah well, I didn't mind. It was great to have the nerd back.
