PHIL'S POV

Bring me all of your dreams,

You dreamer,

Bring me all your

Heart melodies

That I may wrap them

In a blue cloud-cloth

Away from the too-rough fingers

Of the world.

- Langston Hughs

It was another one of the staircase dreams, oh God. The staircase dreams, where I'm bolting up the stairs for freedom as fast as I possibly can... the same set of dreams where I trip and fall, bruising my knee... the set of dreams where, always, I am consumed by the monster of my own imagination and fears where no one dwells.

Eyes peel open.

6:37.

Bright and early. Just how I don't like it.

I need Dan... I need to feel safe.

I stumble across the way to Dan's door, knocking. "Dan..." I say, still in a daze from slumber.

"Bloody tits, Phil!" I hear Dan mutter as he walks to the door. He opens it ajar to find me in my pyjamas, sweating, and looking miserable. "Jesus, what happened?!" he asked, ushering me into his room. "I just... I had another one of the dreams again," I said in a hushed tone. Dan sinks into the foot of the bed, and I at the head.

"Wait, which ones... the ones with the staircase and the Bloody Mary looking creature or the one with the giant dinosaur hamster?" he asks. I chuckle and shake my head. "No, no, no giant mutant hamster dinosaurs... just another trip up the steps and into the cold grasp of doom... wow, that sounded a bit morbid," I replied. No laugh. Guess humor isn't the way to go about it...

Dan scoots over and puts a hand on my shoulder. "Hey, it's okay... it was all just a figment of your imagination and you're here, safe, with me," he whispers.

And we stay there until the sun's rays spill like honey into the room.

Turns out, I did end up falling back asleep. Dan's arms were the comfiest things in the world and I didn't have any bad dreams. My remedy? You betcha.

The keeper of my dreams, Dan Howell.
