A/N: hi guys! idk if you heard, but America (my place!) just passed a law, legalizing gay marriage in all 50 states!!  This is a big step forward for us, as we've got a big country and sections of it can be homophobic. but finally, today, we've carried our stride along with the rest of the world and all the people on the LGBTQ+ spectrum and come out and stop hiding in isolation and fear. this is INCREDIBLE! i still cannot believe it happened! anyways, enough about this... ONTO THE FLUFF (that is actually based on this wow) this is honestly such a dumb section and so short but it makes me so happy like a lil drabble like what if they jumped around and hugged and were just so happy that if they ever were to get married, it would be recognized each time they traveled to America, just think about it

Just another morning. A normal Friday morning, and Dan was sleeping in. Dan thought Phil was too, but Phil was up and about in the kitchen, making himself some tea. His normal routine of waking up, getting himself a cup of tea, and then retiring to the couch for the rest of the day. He had been scrolling along on Twitter when he came across something.

There was a trending hashtag on Twitter, "#LOVEWINS"

He checked it out, and found out it was a hashtag trending for the new marriage laws in America.

Phil jumped up from his seat at the couch and raced into Dan's room, even without knocking... could have been worse, but fortunately Dan was merely snoozing away, curled up on his left side. "Dan!" Phil squealed, jumping onto his friend's bed. Dan mumbled something incoherent, but was shaken awake anyways. "Dan! Dan look!" he said, straddling a sleepy Dan. Dan looked up into Phil's wide eyes, irritated, but welcoming to whatever news he had to bring. "Look! Look at the hashtag! America legalized gay marriage!!" "Oh my goodness!" Dan shouted, and sat up to hug his best friend.

But then Phil began to tear up. Dan pulled away, and wiped Phil's cheek. "Oh no, Phil, don't be sad!" Dan said, cooing. Phil gave Dan a big smile: "I'm not sad, I'm just overcome by how incredible it is! They've struggled with marriage equality for so long... think of all the happy people, Dan, that don't have to live in isolation or sadness anymore! They can finally marry their partners!"

Dan leaned in to give Phil a big kiss. "I'm so happy for those people. We're  one of those people. And I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders," he said, whispering into Phil's ear. Phil nodded into Dan's shoulder, but pulled away so he could give Dan one more big kiss. "I love you, so much, Dan," Phil said, looking into Dan's eyes. "I love you so much as well, and not just as a lover, but as a best friend, a soulmate, and an admirer. I love you," Dan said back.

Dan laid back onto his bed and peeled the covers back for Phil. Phil giggled and got cozy under the blankets and duvet. "I'm so happy, I don't think I could get any happier," Phil said, still smiling. His cheeks still glistened of tears, but he was beaming from ear to ear. Dan rolled over and pulled Phil to him. "This world is looking up. It's getting there. It's gonna get good, better than ever."
