Phan Fluff! Chapter 9: Morning
DAN'S POV
I woke up to rain pouring down and Phil bumping around in the kitchen, mumbling to himself. I'm typically a heavy sleeper, but being in a completely different country threw me out of my element. "Arigato," I heard Phil say before quietly walking back into the bedroom and slipping in under the covers, trying to be unnoticed.
My eyelids fluttered open. "Good morning, Lion," I said in a raspy voice. Phil chuckled; his weird voice was gone and his laugh sounded better than ever. "Morning, Bear. I just ordered us some room service... omelets were the only things on the menu that I hoped weren't going to taste funny. I made sure to avoid the pancakes, sadly... they're no Delia Smith." Phil propped his pillows up to read the paper and I rested my head in his lap. I could hear his heartbeat and that soothed me.
Being in Tokyo was unique. I would say strange, but it's just a different country I have to get used to. I'm just not familiar with the large cherry blossom trees spilling petals all over the sidewalk and the taste of the air and the loud city roaring forty-nine stories below us. But I think I'll adjust.
I must've dozed off again because when I woke, Phil had some omelets on platters and small cups of fruit, ready for us on a bed tray. I smiled sheepishly... never have been a morning person. Phil propped my pillows up too, and we laid back against the headboard to eat and watch some TV. "I enjoy whatever news program this is," Phil started, speaking between bites, "but I'm still incredibly confused as to what they're even saying." I laughed. "I hope we'll manage without a lick of Japanese," I said, popping a melon ball into my mouth. Phil turned to look at me. "Hey! I've caught on with some words from my anime!" he said in defense. We laughed at that.
Phil's phone started to ring; he muted the TV to hear. "Hello?" he said into the phone. "Oh hey!" Must've been one of his friends who live here. After a few minutes of random conversation, Phil hung up. "That was some of our friends; they're coming to pick us up to go to a sushi restaurant and then we're going to walk around Downtown Tokyo," Phil explained. I gave a girlish squeal of excitement. "We're going to a restaurant?! And walk around?! What time is it now?" I said. Phil looked at his phone. "Eh, it's about 1 in the afternoon, but feels like 7 in the morning," he replied. I groaned and fought a war with myself: I really wanted to squeeze in a bath and maybe some walking around time with just Phil, but I also really wanted to just stay here and relax with him. First-world problems amirite?
Phil reached down to stroke my hair. "I'm just so excited to be here with you, Dan," he said, leaning down to give me a kiss. I kissed back.
"I'm feeling the same."
