Phan Fluff!  Chapter 4: Truth

DAN'S POV

Phil and I leave PJ’s flat not long after we’ve finished cleaning it up. He invited in some really messy guests!

Our flat is not that far from PJ’s, but I insisted that we take the underground anyways. Walking home from anywhere in the dark is so risky.

Once we were home, Phil immediately ran for his bedroom and closed the door, laughing. I was extremely confused. “Phil? You alright?” I asked. Phil was laughing on the other side of the door still. “Give me a moment,” he said, then emerged in his Totoro onesie. Now I started to giggle, and Phil laughed along, and suddenly we couldn’t stop ourselves. “Phil I’m pretty tired, I’m gonna go to bed,” I said, starting for my room. Phil reached out his hand; “Wait!” he said. I stopped and turned. Phil looked down at his feet. “Can we have a sleepover in my room?” he asked. His voice was small and he looked fearful. I beamed. “Yeah, of course,” I said, and he looked up, excited.

I went into my bedroom to change into pajamas, then went back to Phil’s room, standing in the doorway. “Need anything before we get comfy?” I asked. Phil giggled and pulled the covers up to his chin, but shook his head no. I laughed, turned out the light, and walked over to Phil, who was snuggled up in bed. He pulled back the covers to let me in, and then I laid down and he put them back over me.

“I have to say, I think your sheets are softer, Phil,” I whispered in the dark.

I felt Phil turn his head towards the sound of my voice. “Why’s that?”

“Because you’re wrapped up in them with me.”

Phil gave a small laugh before I heard him snooze off.

“Ow!” I heard Phil say. I’m thrown out of my sleep and see Phil, wide-eyed and smiling, pulling his legs out from underneath the covers. It’s only about 9… I didn’t really want to wake up this early, but Phil apparently did. As Phil sits up I ask him what’s wrong. “You!” he says, laughing. I frown; “What did I do?” “You keep kicking me!” he cries. I start cracking up: I was sleep-kicking him. “It’s not funny!” he continues, showing his red sore leg. “I asked you three times and you were dead asleep!” This just makes me laugh even harder until Phil pushes me off the bed. “That’s what you get, Dan Howell,” he says jokingly. I catch my breath and manage to stand up to head for the bathroom. “Babe,” Phil whines before I leave the room. “Yes love?” I ask. Phil blushes before quickly continuing. “If you’re getting up can you please make me some tea?” I roll my eyes; how can I say no to his adorable face? I sigh, nod, and leave the room. But not before I use the bathroom.

I go into the kitchen and turn on the stove to heat the tea. As I have my back turned, I feel hands wrap around my bare torso. Lips press gently on the small of my neck. “Phil?” I whisper. “Good morning,” I hear Phil whisper back. “I thought you were still in bed,” I say, quickly followed by “I figured you’d be sneaking.”

Phil continues to plant small, soft kisses on my bare skin from behind as I hold his hands. I spin around to face him. He pokes out his tongue at me and I giggle. “I’m glad you’re back home, Phil,” I say as he pulls me close. “The bed’s too big without the both of us.” He nods; he knows what I mean. “I don’t like leaving you, Dan. It’s like a part of me is missing,” Phil whispers. “Yeah, I know those feels,” I reply. We stay like that for a little, holding each other in silence. I trail kisses up from Phil’s jawline to his nose, and he gives me Eskimo kisses in return. Phil starts humming what sounds like my piano song, but it could be Muse… he sways us back and forth around the kitchen while we wait. Finally the tea starts screaming at us after centuries pass, and I go over to pour the water into some mugs. “Which do you want?” “Jake,” Phil says, and I reach for Jake the Dog. For me, I grab the defunct Hello Kitty mug and put two tea bags of green tea with lemon into the mugs. I then hand one to Phil, with a warning of “Careful, it’s hot,” to which he taunts “Careful, you’re hot.” This makes us crack up.

The feeling of the warm morning sun on our face, the soothing thump of Phil’s heart, and the tea all add up to some happiness I haven’t felt in quite a while. I missed Phil’s absence, always do, but now that he was back, I wanted to make up for it. I couldn’t have asked for a better morning.

I feel Phil reach for my hand and rub circles into the back of it with his thumb before he leads me back to his room. We plop down carefully without a drop onto the bed and get comfy. I lean back against the headboard and let Phil lay down on my lap. He starts to talk to me about fun hippo facts, but I’m in a trance when I catch his eye. “Dan?” he asks. “Ah, sorry, I was… daydreaming…” I say awkwardly. Phil laughs and sits up. Now he’s in my lap and facing me. “You’re cute when you do that,” he says. We’re face to face, just like last night. I stutter but Phil saves me. “What do you feel for me, Danisnotonfire?” Phil asks with a smile.

“As Danisnotonfire, I feel fangirl feelings for AmazingPhil because he got someone suffering out of sadness. But as for Dan Howell, I feel a plethora of platonic feelings mixed with friendship and maybe the occasional urge to push you up against a wall and kiss you for ages on end, but in the long run, I feel like I just want you as close to me as possible.”

Phil beams at this, he’s overflowing with joy. I lean over and kiss Phil’s nose, then go to take a sip of my tea. Phil’s still smiling. “You alright?” I ask him. He nods, then leans in to kiss me back. I blush severely at this. “I take it you feel the same?” Phil nods, then gets back under the covers and wraps himself up, closing his eyes. “Are you going back to sleep now?” Phil mumbles yes. “May I join you?” He says yes again, so I get back under the covers and start to hum the piano song to him. Phil falls asleep with a smile on his face, and I fall asleep next to the person I care about the most.
