A/N: this is so bad i am not as proud of this as i am of other things... As long as you open you mind to magic and Cinderella-like stuff, you're good to go. Otherwise you'll prolly just find this incredibly cheesy and ridiculous. Anyways, here's fetus Phan.
If you had asked 3-year-old Dan if fairytales were real, he would have shouted "Yes!" and shown you his favourite stories.
If you had asked Dan now, age 16, he would have laughed in your face. "Fairytales are for babies."
13 years and quite a lot of change. No more light blue paint on the walls... you couldn't even see it from the Fall Out Boy posters hanging up. No more storybooks... those were packed away tight in the farthest corner of the attic, far away from anyone's eyes. And not as much excitement... 16-year-old Dan was now an introvert, finding comfort in obsessing over bands and playing video games.
Dan didn't have too many friends at school. He was labelled as one of the weird kids. No one liked an outcast. If you didn't conform to society, you just weren't.
Dan had fallen out of his babyish ways. At 3, he would read you fairytales, and at 4, play dress up as a prince or princess. At 5, he'd be knocking on the doors of the neighbourhood kids in the dead summer heat, begging them to play pirate ship with him. "You can be a Lost Boy with me!"
And now, a teenager, Dan would laugh so hard at that. The world was moving on... he himself had moved on. He was now in year 5 in secondary school and the only things on his mind were pizza, Pokemon, and his princess... erm, girlfriend. He didn't really care for her all that much.
Dan had taken a sudden liking to the internet as well, as it was new and not many kids at his school had a computer. Except Dan's dad's profession bought the Howell family a computer, and Dan could go on it if he wanted to, if someone else wasn't at it already.
Ah, finally... the internet. Dan didn't have to look like a loser on there. Succeeding at video games gained him popularity.
Lately, Dan had found himself talking to someone else on Twitter... a YouTuber by the name "AmazingPhil". Dan couldn't stop talking to Phil, and tweeting him, and it became routine to check and refresh this internet boy's profile every few seconds.
Nine months ago today had been the day Phil had tweeted him back... just another Friday... and the two of the had been Skyping ever since.
"Yeah, tomorrow night's my prom, but I don't think I'm going..." Phil said. Dan was playing a game on the PlayStation, but dropped the controller when he heard what Phil said. "What?! Why not??" he had replied. Phil sighed: "I dunno.. I don't really fit in with any of the groups or popular kids at my school... plus I don't have anyone to go with..."
Dan's heart jumped. AmazingPhil didn't have anyone to go with to a prom??
Dan cautiously responded. "Maybe I could be your date? I mean.. I don't have to! Just thinking..."
Phil smiled on the other side of the screen. "I would be so happy to have you be my date!"
Date... the word sounded so good to Dan.
"Yeah!" "Come to my house tomorrow.. take the train. I'll pick you up from the station and then we can go!" Phil said.
Dan beamed. "Yes! Alright I have to go to bed but I'll see you tomorrow!"
Just before Dan closed the laptop lid, he broke up with his girlfriend and bought a ticket for himself... and instantly regretted everything. What was he doing? He had just made plans with a stranger to go to a dance with him.
