Chapter 38: Mistakes

At night, she walked inside the house. Infiltrating on her fingertips so her father won't catch her. She disobeyed him and promised herself to face him but here she is, praying by heart that he won't catch her. At least for today until he calms down.

The house was so quiet as she walked in and closed the door slowly behind her. She made it to her room without getting captured by anyone and entered then took a deep sigh. She opened her eyes again and his fiery eyes were burning her alive. He was sitting there on the chair next to her desk and he seemed so mad. She asked in a weak, scared voice.

Isabelle: Dad?

He looked at her and asked in a tone that showed anger.

F. Adrien: I need an explanation for your actions, miss Isabelle Agreste.

He called out her full name which meant that she's in big trouble. She has just gotten back from her first date. Matthew promised her to stay around the neighborhood until she assures him that everything is fine at home. Well, things might turn around so bad now.

Her father stared angrily at her and she didn't talk. She didn't know how to answer. She just... Didn't expect to end up here. Emma must've had her mouth wide-opened and told them everything in a way where she turns her into the only one at wrong there and her father would never believe her over Emma. It was always that way. He asked again.

F. Adrien: I asked you more than once, Isabelle. Stay away from them but you disobeyed me.

It was finally the moment she decided to talk.

Isabelle: You didn't ask, dad. You gave an order and you didn't explain why I should do it. And it's not like I have never tried to but at last, I couldn't do this anymore. You're breaking both our hearts without a good reason. This is where I ended up and this is what will make me happy.

F. Adrien: You don't understand what you're stepping into, Isabelle. This will end terribly. You don't know anything.

Isabelle: I do want to know but you don't want to say anything. My life is already terrible as it is. Emma takes everything and I am always left alone in the corner. You don't understand how hard it is to be all alone!! Emma is the lucky charm while I am the black cat. All that I do is bring trouble and push people away from me. Someone finally accepted all that in me, dad. I don't want to let him go but you'd always do this. You'd always take everything good I have.

He was silent there, hearing how she described her misery and he could relate to every word. It's what brought them all here. How hard it is to be alone. Back then, all that he feared was staying alone. He talked again in a lower tone this time.

F. Adrien: Bella, please. If you knew, nothing will be the same anymore. This family will surely get broken without you. Please calm down and let's talk.

Isabelle: No!! I don't want things to stay the same. I want something to change. You're all happy here except me. I have been keeping myself away from everything that made me happy just to please you. This must change.

As she talked, Adrien could feel how hard she's been suffering all alone through that past time. He couldn't take care of her as he must have. She ended up like him at last and he couldn't help but get back in time to when his father used to treat him coldly and how he decided to sacrifice him at last for his mother's life. He knew how all that felt but ended up putting his daughter in the same spot. Leaving everything she likes to please him. His voice was full of shame as he talked again.

F. Adrien: I am a terrible person, I know. I was at your spot one day and I couldn't change anything with you. You ended up suffering just like me. I'm ready to tell you everything, Bella but I am warning you for the last time. Holding this secret will mess up your whole life. You'll regret this day you asked me to tell you.
