The One With Sleep

Luna's POV

After Marina had walked in on Caspar and I kissing, I wasn't embarrassed. I was actually quite happy, and so was Caspar, given by his nonstop smiling.

"You're going to get stuck like that," I told him, and he just grinned even more.

Suddenly, we heard a snarling. I froze in place, as did the others, then broke into a sprint. As we rounded the corner, we saw Everest standing over a man. She was holding something in her hand, and was looking very badass.

We drew nearer and I saw that the things in her hand were eyeballs. I heard Marina let out a gasp an whimper. The man on the ground was bleeding from empty eye sockets, and with a start I realized who he was. Zach Cillgod, the second most annoying an hated assassin in my records. The first was Lacy.

"Everest, what the hell?" Came a familiar voice, one that always set me on edge and made me want to rip someone's eyes out.

Lacy stood with her hands on her hips, looking as bitchy as ever. If the assassins lodge was a high school, Lacy Silverwood would be the popular mean girl.

Caspar walked over and gave Lacy a one armed hug, which made me scowl.

Everest grinned sheepishly, then said, "Oops, sorry." Marina still looked horrified, and Zach was whimpering on the ground.

"You know.... even without your eyes you till look like a pedophile," I said, holding back laughter.

"Bitch," he spat out.

Caspar took a step forward, eyes flashing dangerously.

"What did you call her?" I reached out and took his arm.

"Don't worry about it," I muttered. "Anyways Zach, why are you even here?"

He grinned and said, "I was supposed to kidnap you." Caspar and I looked at each other, eyebrows raised.

"Alright tell us really why." Caspar said. He just kept grinning. I turned away in disgust.

"Come on guys. Shall we go home and get some sleep? It's been a long night." I said, walking back towards the front of the school. Everyone nodded and joined me, leaving Zach on the floor. Everest dropped his eyes next to him. Marina looked like she would be sick.

We all got into Caspar's car, and he drove off. He dropped off Marina and Everest at their houses, then drove down a road I was not familiar with and stopped.

"Lace go home and sleep. I will be back in the morning." Caspar said. I looked at him curiously, but he didn't react.

"Fine. If you aren't back by eleven I will
kill you guys," she said, stepping out of the car. We watched her walk up the driveway, then Caspar started the car and drove once more.

When we arrived at my house, we sat in silence, not moving. He unbuckled his seatbelt and turned towards me.

"Luna.... about what happened at the school... I understand if you don't want to you know.... be with me but...." I started laughing, and he looked at me in surprise. I didn't say anything, but leaned close and kissed him softly.

He kissed me back and we broke apart.

"Come on. Let's go to sleep. It's been a very long night." We slipped into the house without a sound, and went upstairs, making sure not to wake the Commander.

I collapsed into my bed and Caspar lay beside me. He wrapped his arms around me, and I fell into a blissful, dreamless sleep.
