Marina's POV
Calum Chase. Even his name made me mad. His name, and his stupid face, and his stupid beautiful eyes, and his stupid- calm down, Marina.
Being shoved next to him in a van doesn't really help the situation. He was still giving me side looks as if saying who-the-fuck-is-this-girl-I-dated-for-years.
We finally hit the state line. A huge sign that read WELCOME TO TEXAS alerted us that we needed to find Eliana Fire.
"What is the address, again?" I asked Caspar, who was driving.
"221 Grimmaud Place" Caspar answered.
Another silence filled the van. I sighed loudly. After about 5 minutes I heard this scratching noise that I assumed was Everest.
"Can you please stop that noise?" I asked politely. Everyone looked at me strangely. I glanced at all of their hands to see none of them moving.
The scratching began again and everyone looked extremely confused.
"Is there a branch in the roof?" Lacy asked.
"I bet there is a colony of spiders living in the walls of the van trying to crawl their way out." Calum said, knowing how great my arachnophobia is. I shivered and closed my eyes. All I could think about were spiders.
A loud thump caused me to open my eyes again. There was a small white pillow on the floor in front of Everest.
And then the pillow moved.
A loud high pitch scream came from Calum. I was about to join him in screaming when Luna picked up the pillow/creature/thing.
"ALFIE!" Luna said excitedly and hugged the strange animal. Once she held the animal out, I realized it was a white ferret.
"Did you just scream at a ferret?" I asked slowly. Lacy began giggling. I joined in followed by Luna, Everest, and Caspar. All five of us were bent over laughing at the top of our lungs because Calum screamed like a girl.
The laughter slowly died down. Well, mine did. Luna and Caspar got quite. Lacy shut up. But Everest continued laughing. Visible tears were coming out of her big brown eyes.
"Everest?" Lacy asked, touching her shoulder.
Then we realized Everest's laughing had turned into crying.
"I CAN'T DO THIS!" Everest screamed. She looked like that poor girl on Harry Potter that touched the cursed necklace and barely survived.
Everest stopped crying in a second. The closed her eyes, and breathed through her nose. Then, she smiled. A great big murderer-y smile. She looked up, and her eyes made her look insane.
"MORE CONFESSIONS! Oh, yes! AND IF YOU SAY NO..." Everest made a kill sign across her pale throat.
"Oh, crap! I forgot one of the side effects of magic is violence and hallucinations. We might want to listen to Everest." Caspar said. His multicolored eyes were full of terror.
"Ah. Hallucinations. That would explain the gnargles." Everest said, looking up as if the roof was lined with insects.
"Gnargles?" Calum asked incredulously.
"Why, yes, of course." Everest said dreamily, "NOW CONFESS YOUR DEEPEST, DARKEST SECRET!"
"Bipolar, much?" Calum murmured earning a glare from Everest. "If looks could kill" would be the phrase here.
"You first!" Everest pointed at Luna in a jerking motion.
"Uh..Can you define 'deepest, darkest'?" Luna asked. Everest gave another if-looks-could-kill glance.
"Uh, alrighty then. I guess you guys should know that, uh," Luna breathed deeply, "I was the one who killed my parents. My real parents. I didn't mean to, ya know? I just-" She broke off, tears filled her eyes.
"It was a accident, blah, blah, blah. You!" Everest pointed at me.
"Uhm...I don't-I don't have a deep dark secret. I'm an open book!" I said, and laughed nervously. This can't be happening.
"Oh, dear. There has to be something. You wouldn't want pretty boy here to die, now would you?" Everest asked and grabbed Calum. She held up one of Luna's many knifes up to his throat.
"I-" I stopped and looked at Calum. He looked absolutely terrified. He didn't belong here. He was normal.
"I'm bulimic." I said, looking down.
"As horrible as that is, it's NOT deep enough." She knew. She absolutely knew.
"I-" Everest's eyes rolled up into her head. She fell back onto the seat of the car. I looked out the window to see that we were at Eliana Fire's house. When did that happen?
Calum looked at me in disbelief. I told everyone one of my secrets so that he could survive. Luna looked at me with pity. Lacy didn't look at me at all, she simply looked at her nails.
"I'll carry her inside." Caspar offered. No one responded. Everyone was looking at either me, Luna, or Everest in disbelief.
"We have our headings, HERE WE GO!" Caspar said, trying to break the tension.
"Alright, let's go." Luna said, tears still streaming down her face, and we all trailed into Eliana Fire's house.
