Leaving it all behind (Watty's 2015)

Prologue

I ran away. Ran away from everything. The man I loved. Family. Friends. My life has fallen apart. I run to my room and grab my duffel bag. I try and hold my tears. I keep telling myself, I do not cry. My life at court was nothing special. I wake up, go to the gym, walk the grounds, protect Lissa. Lissa. She's completely ignored me since Dimitri has returned. She has her dueties as a queen and I have my dueties. Everything here makes me feel terrible. I need to leave. Dimitri has made it clear that nothing will ever happen between me an him. The tears run down my face. I love him. Why can't he just be happy with me. Why can't he forget everything he did to me as a strigoi. Why. Once my bag is filled, I decide to leave a note for my friends. I open my desk drawer and I begin with tears falling onto the paper.

Lissa- You were a great friend. But in the end, your dueties tore us apart. I will miss you for forever.
Adrian- Don't do anything stupid while I'm gone. Be happy. Please tell Dimitri "Goodbye".
Christian- Watch over Lissa. Make sure she's happy and that you are to. Bye hothead.

Once they find these letters I will be long gone. Just how I want it to be. I run to the front gate, as fast as I can. I rush past security and I see Lissa and Dimitri heading towards my room. Oh shit. I hear Lissa say "I'll talk some sense into her, she shouldn't say that to you. Not yet, you're not ready for all the emotional crap that's going on right now." I run faster, I need to get out now. I finally see Mikhail.

"What are you doing here" Mikhail said to me.

"I'm leaving, I need you to open the gate."

"I'm sorry but I can't let that happen." What the hell! I need to go!

"Mikhail, why not?"

"The queen has said no-one is to leave court"

"Sorry to do this Mikhail."

All of a sudden I punched Mikhail right in the head, just enough force to knock him out. He is really a great friend. Hopefully he'll still want to be friend after this. I then press the unlock button to the gate. I'm really leaving for good. My mom is going to be pissed.

"Goodbye" I say and walk out. The alarms will ring in a minute or two. But I'll find a car and get far away. I send Lissa a quick goodbye through our bond and leave.

I'm a guardian. A friend. A daughter and much more. But I'm sure about one thing.

I'm Rose Hathaway and I'm not afraid of anything. All the fear in me is gone now thanks to the man I love. Goodbye Court. Goodbye Dimitri.
