Chapter 40

Rose POV

4 1/2 Months Later

Me and Edward smile down at our baby girl, that is in my arms. For a vampire, pregnancy can range to four and a half months to nine and a half months. Mine was very short compared to most.

Her name is Adaline Sadovsky. She has my dark brown hair, Edwards eyes. She the most beautiful child I've ever held.

"She's amazing. Just like you."

I smile up at Edward, he always knows what to say. When he walks into a room, it puts a smile on my face.

I give him a kiss on the cheek. It's feels weird. I'm still a dhampir. With the pregnancy, it's postponed my turning.

Right now we're in a public hospital and it feels really different. I haven't been away from the estate in months. I have a weird feeling.

It's probably just from having a kid. The whole process is really weird to me.

"Edward we need to go. Get Adeline, we're leaving."

"Rose calm down, we're fine. We have the whole place surrounded. Nobody's going to hurt you. I promise."

"Edward I have a weird feeling about being here, let's just go."

He puts my hands in his and looks me in the eyes.

"We're going to be fine. It's just the aftershock."

Compulsion

He promised not to use it on me. I felt my breathing slowing down.

Then the door unrated open, with a doctor coming in.

"Hello, how are you feeling?"

"I'm ok. When can I leave?"

"You need to stay for one more day. Then if your stable you can leave."

"Thank you."

"Do you need anything?"

"Could you give me a sleeping pill?"

"Yes, I'll go get you that. Would you mind giving the lady some space?"

He pointed the question towards Edward. He hasn't left my side since I gave birth.

"I'll be fine."

He looks reluctant to leave, but nods his head. Then he leaves the room. I'm all alone.

"Here's the pill. Make sure you drink some water afterwards. It helps. If you need anything, you know how to reach me."

"Thank you very much."

I swallow the pill and as I start drinking the water, my vision gets blurry. I don't feel anything in my whole body. What the hell?

Just before my vision goes out, I see someone.

"I did everything you asked me to do. Please let my wife go."

"Fine, she's already at your house."

Why is this man talking to my doctor? Why did he want to drug me?

"Thank you."

Why does the doctor sound terrified? Who the hell is this man?

Just as the doctor is leaving, the mystery man speaks.

"Wait."

He has a very masculine voice.

"Yes."

He answers weakly.

"I can't just let you go."

Then I hear a growl and a snap. Then I see the doctor fall on the ground.

"Hello, Rose. Time to go on a trip."

"Stop."

I say wearily.

"Sorry, but that's not going to happen. Let's get out of here boys. Leave the kid."

"Please don't take my child away from me. Please!"

This man picks me with no trouble at all. He feels way to strong to be a human. I'm to weak to do anything.

"Trust me, no one will hear you. Your husband is out, hunting. He won't be back for a while. Your child will be fine."

"You sound like this is all ok. Let me go! I can't leave her. I'm not going to be like my mom!"

"Time to move out."

Then he presses a pressure point and I black out.

Who the hell are these people? What's going to happen to me?

What going to happen to my daughter? My Adaline.

What's going to happen to my husband? My Edward.

Why the hell do these people want me?
