Chapter 26

Rose POV

I look all around me and see the same thing.

Moroi

They all look up to me and look shocked. I search around, but I don't see Lissa or Dimitri. I turn around and face Alexander.

"Do you have the queen?"

He looks pissed immediately.

"She was one of the people who escaped. She had a man beside her, he looked Russian."

"Dammit!"

I wish they captured Dmitri. So he could see what I've become. Alexander puts his hand on my shoulder.

"What's wrong?"

"He's my ex-boyfriend, the one I was talking about."

"Well get him next time. I promise."

This is a horrific place to be. Blood is all around me. Alex puts his hand in mine. I don't feel the coldness when our hands touch.

"Where did you put the royal moroi?"

He start pulling me to the end of the room and I see another door. As we walk down the room, both dhampir and moroi yell things at me. But I feel nothing. Their the ones who are going to die. He opens another door and leads me in. I see the royals instantly.

I walk up to one of the cages and I crouch next to it. Alex right by my side.

"Hello Adrian."

He looks up at me and gasps.

"Rose what the hell! How could you be on their side?"

He's right up against the cage wall and were both standing. He's furious.

"You guys did this to me! You guys wanted to erase my memories! This is all because of what you royals wanted to do to me!"

I point to everyone around the room. Their all listening in on our conversation.

"Your a monster Rose!"

"Now you know how it feels to be in a cage!"

"You bitch! Your going to die all alone! Your own mother wishes she didn't have you as a kid!"

I grab his neck and he begins to gasp for air. Then someone puts their hand not shoulder. Alex. I let go immediately.

"Your going to die all alone Adrian. I will kill your whole family in front of you. Then I'll kill you."

I leave his cage and head to the only other person I would ever consider talking to.

Christian

"Hello hothead. How does it feel to be abandoned by the woman you love? She's probably having sex with Dimitri, as we speak. I can't believe you stood by her all these years."

He looks broken. I know he's mad at me, but he's more mad at Lissa.

"Is she really doing that?"

"I got into her head one time on accident and I saw them together. Romantically. I actually felt sorry for you. Now you know why she hasn't proposed to you yet."

"I'm sorry Rose. I didn't know. If I did know, I would've been on your side."

He looks like he means every word. He looks surprised and shocked. I can't believe he never found out about them.

"Christian, I believe you. I'll talk to their leaders. I might be able to get you free. But you have to promise to be on the strigoi side."

"I'll do anything to kill Dimitri. Now I know what a basterd he is. I'll stand with you."

"I'll see you soon."

I stand up and Alex is right behind me. We exit both rooms and I ask to speak to him alone. We head into a huge library and sit down at a table.

"What is it that you need?"

"I'll fight on your side on a couple conditions."

"I'm listening."

I always get what I want. In the end.
