Chapter 21

Rose POV

"Please Dimitri, just let me go back to court. I don't want any trouble."

I don't have time for his bullshit. For all I know, he's screwing Lissa and I don't want to be part of it. I try to walk past him, but he grabs onto my arm. I wince.

"Who did this to you?" He asks quietly.

I look down and see what he meant. I have bruises. They must've been from Sasha.

"That's none of your concern. Get out of my way." I push him aside.

"I'm suppose to take you back to court. Let's go." 

We start heading back, but I sense an awkward silence.

"Do you have something you want to say Dimitri?"

"What's going on with you? Are you seeing someone?"

Oh Shit. Time to lie.

"Nothing is going on with me and I'm not seeing anyone! How can you say that to me?"

I start to walk away. I feel myself heating up. I usually can lie better than this. When I first met Dimitri, I thought he was the one for me. Now I want nothing to do with him. Why do I have to be heartless when it comes to him? I don't want my last hours of freedom be filled with regret.

"Dimitri, I forgive you. I know that I've been harsh on you, but I can't live like this. I thought that I could forget it all, but then I came back."

"I'm the one who started it all. I'm sorry Rose."

I see the court from a distance. It's around ten a.m.

"Let's go to the place where it all happened."  

I look at Dimitri sadly. This place caused me so much pain.

Now, this place will make me forget all the pain.

Dimitri POV

I already know that Rose is lying to me. I can always tell if people are lying to me. Rose most of all.

After Lissa sent me to go and retrieve rose, I went straight to the woods. I felt really weird when I saw Lissa, I don't even remember what was going on when I was there. Rose always goes to the woods. I go and look for tracks. As soon as I find them, I follow them as fast as I can. After a few minutes I hear someone talking. I stop dead in my tracks. I hear someone speak.

"I love you so much. I will see you again." Who is that?

"I love you to." That sounds exactly like Rose. I look around a branch and see a girl with a boy. They say there goodbyes and once they turn I recognize her immediately.

Rose

I run back a little bit. Holy shit!

Rose lied to me and I knew it. But I didn't want to bring that up. She said that she forgave me. That's all I ever wanted from her.

Then we start heading back. As we're heading back to court, she says something that breaks my heart inside.

"Let's go to the place where it all happened."

I wish I could go back in time and fix the day where I broke her heart.
