Chapter 9

I opened my eyes realizing I am about to fall asleep in my car itself and turned on the engine only to frown at the small crowd at the house where Anitha just walked inside with her friend.

What is going on? I thought frowning and then remembered the bruises on that girl's face. Because of other thoughts, I didn't give it much attention thinking she fell but then I remember Anitha's words after that.

I immediately got out of my car and walked towards the house to find her standing before the crowd with the door closed behind her and she is talking with them.

"We know you have been staying here for all these years and never caused any trouble. But this is the place where kids roam around and some incident like this in our society is not safe for anyone. We discussed with everyone else and decided it is best if you leave this society as soon as possible." One of them commented while I frowned.

"I assure you that nothing will happen to anyone. This is just a misunderstanding and I just fell down." That girl assured them.

"You were fine before your father visited you and I even heard your friend's words about money. If something else happens then there will be a nuisance of police and everything else. It is better if you leave from this place." A Woman stated and I frowned before observing the girl's face.

Why is she lying that she fell down? Everyone can see the finger marks on one side of her cheek. I shook my head and turned to leave as I know Anitha will anyway be busy with other things and also needs to leave within a week and this will not trouble her and in turn, will not trouble GH.

"Okay! Just give me a week's time and don't mention this to my friend at any cost and also please don't behave different in front of her." She pleaded with them and I paused hearing those words.

"Fine!" saying that everyone slowly dispersed and I continued to stand there.

She sighed and turned to leave but realized my presence and gave me a shocked look. She looked around before walking towards me with a worried expression.

"Please don't mention this to your boss. Anitha will not be troubled by any of this and it will not trouble your boss's company. Please!" she pleaded and suddenly turned to her side and leaned over while hugging her stomach.

"Are you hurt?" I finally asked after overcoming my shock because of her words until now.

"I am fine! Please don't say anything to your boss." She added and composed herself to stand properly.

"That person will not return?" I asked making her frown but she nodded saying he will not for a few days for sure.

"How are you confident?" I continued and she gave an irritated look but calmly explained that the money he took is enough for him.

"For drinking or gambling?" she sighed when I didn't stop and didn't reply immediately this time.

However, taking a deep breath she replied that it is for both and again repeated to not tell my boss.

"No need to worry as Ms. Anitha will be leaving within a week and she needs to handle other things before that. So, there will be no problem because of this incident." I assured her and she gave a short smile but then froze.

"Are you really a driver?" she suddenly asked staring at me.

"Mr. Vikranth?" she added when I stayed silent.

"Yes! I am Mr. Vikranth!" I replied extending my hand and she shook it calmly.

"Anitha told me a lot about you and sorry about the confusion. I am Kanika!" she introduced herself and I nodded letting her hand go.
