Chapter 54

After Anny walked out of the cabin with the new scripts she got, I glanced at the phone thinking she will inform Kanika about my presence in the office.

Today morning we both were supposed to go to the doctor together but when she got a mail from her mentor about some urgent matter, she called Jay to accompany me.

So, after getting the cast removed, I directed him to bring me to the company and not the house.

However, there is still no call or message to ask about how it went at the doctor's office. I sighed and started checking the files I missed during the past two weeks and called Mohan Uncle about the deal he handled in my absence.

In the evening, I finally left the place asking Jay to drive me back to the house and found her sitting on the couch while watching some video on her phone.

"Work is done?" She asked looking at me.

I nodded sitting on the couch and placed the crutches away. Even though the cast is removed, I was adviced to use them for a day until I get adjusted to walk normally and can extend the days if I am not feeling comfortable to walk without them.

"I heard that your ankle needs to be massaged regularly. Where is the oil?" She asked putting the phone away.

I didn't give her the cover I brought with me and asked, "You knew I went to work? Why didn't you call me?"

"Yes! I called Jay to ask how it went at the doctor and he mentioned that you went to the company. There must have been some important work for you to do and so I didn't disturb you to ask you about how you are feeling." She explained with a calm expression.

So, it is really not enough when I mentioned that I will not be too involved with Prathap and Shrishti's life.

She is acting as if these few days didn't happen at all. She forwarded her hand for the oil and I shook my head saying, "I will handle it. What about your work?"

"My mentor is not busy these days and so when I mailed that I didn't finish the assignment given, I was called up to get scolded." She replied sighing.

"I am sorry! Because of me, you couldn't work." She waved off my apology.

"Go and take some rest. Dinner is already prepared by the helper." She said before putting the earphones back in her ears.

"You will not cook anymore?" I asked and her finger paused on the mobile screen.

"She cooks really well." She replied and started playing the video on some tutorials on youtube for some designing.

I stared at her for a few seconds before slowly standing up and moved to the stairs at a slow pace without using the crutches.

After climbing the stairs one step after the other, I reached my room and freshened up before laying down on the bed.

I covered my eyes with my uninjured hand feeling lost on what to even do. Until now I never thought of a relationship and even Shrishti's started with guilt and to take care of her and even some attraction.

But what about Kanika? There is no clear word on how it started but I want the life we had till a few days ago to continue without any picture of a contract or any other matter.

Of course, it is not that difficult and I know my own shortcomings and my own past issues. Is it really fine to be with someone?

Maybe that is why even Kanika is not ready to be with me as I have to deal with a few things on my own.
