*Kanika Pov*

"No longer upset because of my words?" He asked after a few minutes and I closed my eyes before shaking my head.

"I will not be upset until the time you stay in the hospital." I replied and he sighed but didn't stop patting my back and my tears also stopped.

I know I should let go of him and step back but I am worried to look at his face. The behavior of mine just now is not at all normal and I don't know what are his thoughts about that.

"Don't worry! It was a small accident and I will be fine soon." He mumbled and I slowly nodded but froze when I felt his lips on my cheek.

"What are you doing?" I asked as he didn't move away.

"You still seem to be terrified and so I am consoling you." He replied and he seems to be sincere with the tone of his words.

"I am not the one involved in the accident." Saying that I composed myself and stepped away from him after removing my hands.

I looked away to glance at his hand and then leg asking, "How long should these be kept?"

"Two weeks for the leg and one month for the hand." I nodded sitting on the stool beside his bed.

"I will ask the doctor to remove them today itself. How can I work with these?" I immediately glanced at his face hearing those words and he is staring at his hand with a frown.

"Sure! You should get them removed today itself. Why heal them within a month when you can have a disability for your whole life?" I asked nodding and he turned to glance at me after hearing those words.

"What? Isn't that what you are aiming for?" I asked as he continued to stare at me in silence.

"But my work..." he trailed off sighing and I stared at him thinking he really can't live a day without working and I can understand his mindset even though it is stupid right now.

"Don't worry! I will help you and as you have an efficient assistant, he will help you to work from home." I commented and glanced at his assistant who just entered the room.

"Of course, Madam! I will do everything to help sir." He said smiling and I smiled back.

"I called your family, sir!" he stated looking at Vikranth.

"You didn't inform Shrishti, right?" He immediately asked frowning and as I was still staring at the assistant, I found him shaking his head negative.

"You ordered me, in the beginning, itself to not inform Shrishti Madam about any shocking incidents regarding the company or any member of the family." Jay commented smiling before stepping out of the room saying he will talk to the doctor once about the things he needs to look after.

I sighed shaking my head at him before glancing at Vikranth to find a nervous look on his face.

"Today is an important day for Mohan Uncle but I..." he sighed leaning back and closed his eyes.

I stared at his face before holding his hand saying, "Maybe this will take away his mind for some time from the sad memories."

"So, you are asking me to do this every year?" he asked opening his eyes and I immediately moved my hand to let go of his but he shifted his left hand which I was holding to hold my hand.

"I was joking!" he mumbled and I frowned at him.

"Why are you suddenly joking?" I asked him frowning and he shrugged before closing his eyes again but didn't leave my hand.

After some time, we both heard the door opening and turned to find all his family members entering the room and I felt his hand leaving mine within a second.
