Chapter 30

I nodded at Uncle's congratulations and glanced at the others only to find Kanika walking away from Shrishti, Prathap, and Leela Aunty in a hurry while everyone is staring at her in shock.

"Did they say something wrong again to your wife?" Pramod Uncle sighed and we all walked towards them.

Leela Aunty is patting Shrishti's shoulder while we reached near them and Mohan Uncle calmly asked, "What happened now? You both didn't apologize and actually said something again?"

"Dad! I apologized properly and honestly to her. If you don't believe me then ask others." Saying that she walked away.

"You should know what happened before saying something like that Mohan." Even Leela Aunty walked away following Shrishti.

Before Mohan Uncle can walk towards the direction where they both left, one of the board members called for him and he walked away with Pramod Uncle.

I glanced around and found Dad talking to a group of guests. I sighed glancing at Prathap only to see him frowning at me.

"Aren't you going to care that Shrishti got upset?" He asked with a confused expression.

"I don't know what actually happened and why aren't you going to comfort her?" I asked back thinking why is he so slow.

He is so active in trying to show I am already committed and even stalked my daily activities but when I am no longer a blockage for him, he is not doing anything. Like Shrishti says all the time, he doesn't have a romantic bone in him and will never take any step on his own.

"Mom and Shrishti apologized for saying harsh words but she just stood there with zero reaction. Then Shrishti to break the awkwardness even offered to show her around but your wife just walked away ignoring that gesture." Prathap explained and I frowned hearing those words.

Did she really do that? As per the new rule, she need not actually interact with them but a nod to their apology is a basic thing to do and if she did what Prathap mentioned then she was being rude to them which is against the rule.

However, today she kind of looks different from the evening like lost in her thoughts. I frowned not knowing how to deal with this matter at all as I shouldn't be partial and also wrong by taking Aunty and Shrishti's side when Kanika is also important now.

"Are you listening?" Prathap's voice brought out of my thoughts.

"Shrishti extended her hand to get close to her but she was really rude, Vikranth." I glanced at him and then found his expression change into an awkward look.

I turned around to find Kanika standing near us and I calmly stared at her face for a few seconds before asking about the matter.

She replied about how she excused herself to leave and that she was not rude. I nodded hearing those words but her eyes which seems to have been rubbed a few times didn't escape my sight.

After that, I took her around with me when I need to have a word with others to make sure no other conflict arises today mainly when she seems like she wishes to be anywhere than here.

When she didn't even concentrate on Anny's speech, I am completely sure that something definitely happened.

So, when Mohan Uncle planned to go to his place to have a small party for me, I said no saying I am tired today.

During the whole drive she stayed silent and closed her eyes leaning on the window but the moment, I stopped the car, she stepped out of it and walked inside while I sat there staring at her back.
