'She is doing well now and is even enjoying my cooking. I will not disturb you tomorrow. Vikranth would need you with him.' I frowned seeing the message from Prathap and then glanced at the calendar.
After a few seconds, I remember what happened on this day last year and I noted down the date too.
Prathap knows what happens tomorrow? That shouldn't be the case for sure. I stared at the phone thinking about how to approach the topic without making any mess by saying something that shouldn't be said.
'Yeah! But he will go alone.' I replied and waited for his reply.
'I understand! From the time I know him, he always spent his mother's death anniversary alone.'
'Even Ashok Uncle wouldn't go with him. Don't worry! I know well that you are important to Vikranth.'
'Even though your marriage is like this, he would need you later I guess.' I frowned seeing those words again.
So, everyone thinks he is going to his mother's ceremony. This makes sense as how can they hide him being away on the same day every year.
Then I glanced at the continuing words and couldn't help but sigh as I don't know if my importance will have any impact on matters like this.
He doesn't like anyone to be close to his emotional confronts and it includes everyone. So, how could I be special?
He would allow only one person but that person doesn't seem to be interested in his emotional moments at all. Ashok Uncle really seemed like a person who cares about the people around him with his suggestions and everything when I first met him a few times.
However, now I don't have any thoughts about him as I can't understand why is he this cold towards Vikranth. He doesn't know how important he is to his son and also doesn't know he is the only one who can make Vikranth nervous and run around like a kid.
I can understand his anger because of the deeds of Vikranth's parents but that is not his fault and he was raised for so many years.
'You take care of Anitha.' With that message, I cut off his conversation. After that, I walked out of the room for dinner and found him already sitting on the couch with his laptop.
"Let's have dinner?" I asked trying to use a normal tone like for the past few days after that incident.
He nodded closing the laptop and followed me to the dining area. As I am completely busy with assignments and also doctor's appointments, I continued to let the helper cook the food for us.
He didn't say anything from the time he returned and now I understand what it is. I still remember his condition last year near the cemetery.
He was drunk without having food from morning and didn't even care about the rain. I frowned thinking whether I should pack some food in the morning before he goes so that he will have something to eat.
After finishing dinner, I walked towards the stairs lost in my thoughts, and felt a hand holding mine suddenly.
I turned to find him frowning at me and I calmly asked, "What is it?"
"I was calling you a few times but you didn't respond. Are you angry that I didn't talk to you today?" he asked frowning and I stared at his face.
Even though he looks normal but I can see the nervousness behind his words. I shook my head and moved to hug him startling him completely.
