If you haven't seen it yet, I posted about Joshua's GQ interview over in my More Nonsense book (Joshua Bassett pt 8: A Survivor).
I hope karma hits like a freight train to every damn person that thought sending him death threats was ok.
Also, another long note at the bottom. (It has somewhat to do with this book and its future.)🍪🍪🍪
*A Few Days Later*
They were starting the day off with the first scene of episode seven. Joshua and Olivia were going to be singing Start of Something New in the bomb shelter with many people moving props around them.Tim handed them their microphones and told them to stand on the wooden blocks when the chorus began. Meanwhile, Joe was going to be playing the piano, and everyone else would be watching. "And action!"
The pair began to sing as Kaden and Andrés lifted a ladder over their heads. They went to step onto the blocks, and Stephani came to the middle with a disco ball hanging from a finger. Kaden lifted Lauryn onto his shoulder with an upside-down sign that said 'Start of Something New...' Olivia (Nini) told her to turn it over.
It was chaos as people kept going from one side of the room to the other. Larry (Big Red) was above Stephani on the ladder, shining a flashlight onto the disco ball.
Soon, a bell sound effect went off, and Matt (EJ) stood up and cheered, "Yes, yes! Whoo!" Everyone stared at him for a minute, then he added, "Sorry, I really love Thanksgiving." They all laughed a little.
"Ok, hold on," Kate (Miss Jenn) said, getting out of her chair. "I know everyone is excited for the holiday break, but I'm me, and I have notes." She turned to the side and began with, "Ricky and Nini, that was good, but it could be better. She said in the spirit of holiday cheer." She said that last sentence quickly.
"Good save," Frankie (Carlos) said to her.
"I thought we sounded ok," Joshua (Ricky) said to Olivia (Nini).
"Heck yeah. We're kinda killing it," she added.
"Do you mean both of us?" he chuckled.
That damn smile. "Yeah," she said with a grin. This is fine. It's only acting.
"Oh, ok," he whispered, acting surprised.
Kate (Miss Jenn) turned back to the group as a whole and said, "Your homework over this break, all of you, is to please go on vocal rest. And go over your lines too, which is hard to do on vocal rest, but make it work. And remember, may nothing ever block your doorway to happiness."
"Excuse me!" Mark (Mr. Mazzara) shouted upon entering.
"Ok, starting now," Kate (Miss Jenn) muttered.
"Oh, don't mind me; I just came to return a missing item," he explains, walking farther into the room. "Ashlyn," he said, directing his attention to the teen. "Can not have our robotics team co-captain going home without her binder over break." She took it from him and walked to the side of the room. Larry's (Big Red's) eyes followed her.
"Thank you, Benjamin," Kate (Miss Jenn) said kindly, "and I hope you have a lovely holiday with whoever could possibly love you."
"Oh, in fact, I will be enjoying three varieties of peach cobbler with a loving family so large, we're renting out the Rotary Club."
"Well, I'm sure it can't compare to the candied yam bake-off that we throw every year in my home, but I wish you joy nonetheless."
"And I wish you that same joy too." He makes a snarky smile before leaving.
