Funny coincidence, I was reading a story the other day and saw there were about six or seven comments on this one paragraph. I click on them to see what people had said, and I kid you not when I say all of them had this as their profile picture.

Glad to know all of us have the same unhealthy obsession with them.

"How is us doing nothing a plan?"

"All we have to do is sit back and relax. In no time, their own paranoia will destroy them. Your small-minded self wouldn't understand."

"Well, what do we do in the meantime?"

"Simple, we put more focus into the technology. That device is now our top priority."

My alarm goes off, and I groan. It doesn't matter how fun a project is; I'll always be upset at the sound of an alarm. Thankfully, Josh and I didn't fall asleep while writing... again. We have an idea for a chorus but don't know if we'll keep it since it's still the first thought.

I start to get ready, but something feels off. I don't know why; it just does.

Joshua
"Ok, is everything ready?"

"I think so."

"I hope so. Her alarm has probably gone off by now."

"Crap, you're right. I'm gonna go get her and hope this goes smoothly."

Something's not right; it's too quiet in this hallway. I don't hear the stampeding rush of footsteps outside my door. The girls haven't barged in with a bunch of questions.

I go knock on Josh's door, but there's no answer. "Josh?" I say his name a few more times before trying the door. Luckily, it was unlocked.

The moment I open the door, he comes through the front door. "Hey, what are you doing in here?" he asks nervously.

"I was confused because it was uncharacteristically quiet in the hallways. I'm normally the last one up, so I'm used to hearing the cast walking around outside my door."

"Oh, yeah. Makes sense." He started rubbing the back of his neck, and I became more skeptical.

"Josh, is there something going on?"

"What? No, let's get to the school."

"Shouldn't we wait for everyone else? I know Matt's car doesn't hold that many people."

"It's fine. Let's get going."

I follow him to the elevator, still unsure of this day. When we get down to the parking lot, I notice Matt's car isn't even here. "Uh, where's his car?"
