"Give me your hand."

I move my hand slowly towards his. I can feel the pressure and tension, and my heart is crazy like a Mad Hatter as if he's really on crack. But that's not the case, and I'm starting to doubt to trust this guy. He is a demon, after all, but he's different than the twins and Jippis. I sense real evil within him. If he's going to pull a trick on me and suck out all my life, then I have to strike first.

I unleash a quarter of my demon magic not to be sensitive for the demon to catch on. Talima gasped behind me. She knows about my identity because she never questioned it. So I trusted her completely when she didn't tattle on me.

"Scared?" Merkon snicker.

I glare at him. "No," then I placed my hand on his as I felt a wave of his magic going through me, but once that magic got a hold of my energy, I could feel it getting pulled.

My body starts to drain. This asshole said only a tiny amount. He's trying to get the whole fucking buffet.

"Lippy, stop."

I ignore the pleading from Talima as I let Merkon sucky life out of me. As soon I felt weak, I shot a force of my demon magic in full throttle as it made Merkon stare towards me with wide eyes and kick him hard in the gut, sending him flying across the cage and hitting the bar walls.

He drops down, groaning in pain. The demon wheeze then coughs out blood as he gathers himself off the ground. Mark touches his chest, then looks inside his shirt. "What the hell did you do to me?"

"I knew you were going to do something stupid," I sneer. "You can't fool me. I almost felt my life draining. If it weren't for my backup plan, I would have died."

"You put a slave contract on me!" He looks down at the tattoo on his chest that has my crest sigil. "Only a high-level demon can implant a slave contract. How can a human know demon magic? Unless-"

"That's right," Talima steps in. "Lippy is half-demon."

I knew she knew about my identity. Even if I masked my demon aura before coming here and pretending to be a human, I couldn't get past her. She can see my future, so she probably saw my past. She's an oracle.

I smile.

I appreciate her for not saying a word to Queen Bisera and Queen Ingrid. I don't know if they will still accept me again once their new friend is a half-demon.

"Impossible," Merkon hiss as he slowly gets up from the floor. "A half-demon? Even if she is one, then why does she have light magic in her? She has the power of the holy god! Our mortal enemies."

Mortal enemies?

I try to get a read on Talima, and she knows something about demons and their mortal enemies. But the demons' enemy is none other than those who are quite the opposite of the—religious believers who call them their guardians and protect them from Satan.

Angels.

It's been known for many generations about angels and demons, light and dark, good versus evil. All those concepts have been taught from a young age to adulthood.

I read a few things about demons from the archives that light magic is their weakness. They hate that holy light shit. The real reason ferals come out only at night or when there is no light in the sky. But I also know the blue-black flames can also hurt them. So, basically - demons are fucked no matter how they are killed.

Merkon weasel a chuckle and then burst out laughing. He became delirious. "A half-demon and half-angel. I never see the day that the prophecy you told Lord Demir is true. I thought you wanted to scare him, but..." The demon sneers his black obsidian eyes at me.
