I crunch on the Pringles chips - flavored sour cream - into my mouth as I have gone over the research that I had gathered so far.

After a week of coming back from Japan, the source of the miasma is still unknown. From what I had asked from the locals in a Sapporo, some people went camping in a nearby forest and never returned. A woman at the harbor told me I shouldn't go near that forest because it's a curse. The twins and I went over to check it out, and we saw that the whole forest was covered in miasma.

"So, it's not just Japan," I mutter and tap my pen frantically as I scribble down notes of all the things I know about the appearance of the miasma. I circle where I had visited on the world map I had purchased from the book store.

I lean against my chair and close my eyes, trying to gather what I have known about the miasma.

"This is frustrating," I mumble and sigh.

"Who are you?!"

I snap my head in the direction of Camila's voice. I approached the screen door out of my office to see Camila, Kaze, and Takkar holding his handmade cub, ready to swing at our unwanted guest.

I look at the visitors and recognize the person when I groan.

"Who are you?" Camila asks in a hostile tone. "I smell wolf."

"Little girl, I'm not here to fight," he holds up his hands. "I'm only here on my alpha's order."

"I don't give a shit," Camila growl. "You are trespassing on our land. Leave before I-"

"Camila," I call her name from the other side of the screen door. This tension was about to start between two parties. I step out and walk up as I stand in front of her.

"Calliope Carter," the visitor smiled, and I just rose a brow. "Still beautiful as ever."

"Clayton Bishop, still a flirt." He's another person I don't want to see.

One of Dominic's best friends growing up, his third-in-command, and the biggest lady's man. Clayton is outgoing and can easily make friends.

"Come on, don't be like that. It's just one kiss. It's all in the past."

I growl.

How dare he bring that up? Especially in front of my people.

I don't want to even think about that kiss. It's just one kiss because I was so pissed at Dominic being with Leah during my 16 birthday party. I used Clayton to make his best friend jealous, but apparently, it didn't affect him at all.

"Yuna, you know this guy?" Ask Camila.

"I'll explain to you later," I tell her through my grit teeth. I didn't want to remember that. "So, what does your alpha need from me? Seeing that you are here alone means it's something important."

Usually, a beta and a third in a wolf pack would have two other members to follow the higher status but seeing that Clayton, the third, is alone and came to my farmhouse didn't want others to know where I lived. Not only does Dominic trusts his friend, but Clayton is also one of his best trackers in the Blue Moon Pack.

"You told him if any one of us is ineffective."

"Who?"

"Two boys, eleven and nine," Clayton explains.

The miasma even infects children, but their body is still developing especially that they are wolves. That is something to be noted down.

"How long did they inhale the miasma?" I ask.

"Not long. Dominic and Malik were just in time to grab him."

"Wait!" I gasp. "They grabbed them?"

"Y-yeah." Surprise by my sudden outburst.
