[Chapter 21] Us.

Tris and I walk back to the amity field hand in hand. I stop some distance away and tug on her hand to make her stop.

She turns towards me and I take hold of both her hands.

"If you really meant what said back there then why were you dancing with Eric? I remember you yelling at him."

She sighs and replies. "I know. I did yell at him. But I felt sorry for him and agreed to give him one dance. And of course I meant what I said."

I trust her because I love her. I pull her into a hug and hold her close to me. She pulls away and kisses my cheek before pulling me towards the field.

Hardly anyone has left as yet. Zeke and Shauna are missing and a naughty thought comes to my mind. I get distracted when my eyes land on Eric.

She glaring daggers at me and most probably waiting for a chance to kill me. I know that I'll have to pay for getting close to one of the Priors, so why not enjoy the moment and live in the now.

I put an arm around Tris, draw her close to me and grin at Eric. He gets up and leaves.

She speaks up. "Do you want to get something to eat?"

"Yeah. Let's do that." I nod.

We both get some sandwhiches. Tris sits on the fence and I lean on it next to her. After a few minutes she says. "I wonder how our families will react to this."

Without thinking I blurt out. "Atleast yours will react rationally." At first she's confused but then the night comes rushing back to her.

"Do you think they'll hurt you?" She asks, gently touching my arm.

I don't want to think about it. "I don't know. Maybe."

She hops down and gives me a tight hug. When she pulls away I keep my arms around her so that she can't get away.

"I can't have anyone hurting you. If this is bound to happen then I don't think that this is a good idea." She says.

I touch my forehead to hers and warn her. "Don't you dare even for a second think about it that way. My family's beatings can't change the way I think about you."

And I mean what I just said.

This chapter is just a filler chapter, to keep things going.
