Dauntless Brothers

[Chapter 48] New Apartment.

"Tobias..." Tris is forced to stop by the arrival of my control room head. "Tobias! I was looking for you." 

"Why?" I ask. 

"You can have the day off from control room duty because you just got married and everything that happened today you must need time to get used to it." He tells me.

 "Oh! Thank you. Yeah, I'd like that." I say. He says goodbye and goes on his way.

 "Great!" Tris exclaims.

 "What?""I was about to suggest that we get a new apartment tomorrow since you have to work but now that you have the day off, can we do it today?" She suggests.

 "Yeah, we can do that." I reply.She smiles and kisses my cheek before saying.

 "Let's go then."She takes my arm and starts pulling towards the offices where we're supposed not go in case of a new apartment. I start to stop in front of me he first one but she keeps walking till the third one. 

"Come on." She calls out.

 "Why not this one?" I ask her.

 "You'll see." She says and goes in. 

I sigh and go in after her. The moment I step foot inside I know why she wanted to talk to there son in this office. It's Shauna. I'd complete forgotten that she worked for this department.

 "Hey guys!" She greets us. 

"Hey Shauna." Tris relies and I simply nod. 

"Ready to get a new apartment?" She asks. 

"Yep."I reply. 

She turns to her computer and searches for our apartment. "Okay. So, you've got an allotted place but I've got a couple on my list which are still vacant. So, I'll give you all their keys and you an choose one out of them. I'll take care of the rest." 

"That's good. Thanks." Tris says as Shauna hands her the keys. 

"You can give them back to me at dinner." She tells us.

 So, we thank her and leave. Now, I know why Tris went to her because she knew we would get a choice.I take her hand and we walk to the first apartment. I unlock the door and we step in together. One look around helps us make up our minds.

 "I don't think I can survive here." She tells me. 

"Aww! You poor fragile thing." I tease her.

 "Idiot." She mutters as we walk out and lock the door.We're moving towards the next place when Tris asks.

 "Which of them is on the highest floor?"

 "I think there is one of the very first floor. It's going to above those Dauntless warehouses. But there'll be plenty of light and it'll have windows too." I tell her from the memory I have of a place like that. 

"Do you think we can go see that first? Because I don't want to live underground, since we have to spend half the day down here." She says. 

"Sure. Let's go check it out." 

This time I lead the way and Tris follows closely. Soon we reach our destination and we start looking for the right number.

 "Here it is!" I announce, stopping in front of the one with a 4 on the door. 

This makes Tris giggle and I roll my eyes because it's too obvious isn't it?I unlock the door and let Tris in. I close the door after her. It's not a completely furnished apartment but some of the necessities are there. Tris walks from room to room and then turns to me. 

"I think we should take this one because it's as big as it's gonna get and it has two bedrooms and a separate living room. I think it's good enough. Besides, I really love this bedroom." She beckons me to follow her and I do.

 I walk into the room and take a look around. Tris is right, it is really good. The walls are painted a nice soft grey colour and there is a huge window that looks out onto the fence and in the distance you can see the Amity fields. It almost makes you forget where you are. 

"What do you think?" She asks.I sit down on the bed's edge.

 "It's pretty good. I like it."

 "So, do you agree?" She asks clasping her hands together. 

"Yeah. Of course, I do." 

The moment I say this Tris runs over and hugs me with a chorus of thank you.I laugh at her excitement and pull away to look at her. 

"You don't have to thank me. I'm happy with whatever makes my girl happy."She gives me a heart shattering smile before giving me a quick kiss and saying. "Alright! Let's go down for dinner then and let Shauna know." 

Tris and I finally have our own apartment...
