Initiation drags on and on. It's supposed to be five hours but to me it seems like five years.

I can't focus on the Initiates because my mind's preoccupied by something and that's Tris. I'm worried about her and where she is. She never skipped Initiation. Not even when we hated each other.

A hand waves back and forth in front of my face making me snap out of my thoughts.

I look up to find Emily standing in front of me.

"My simulation ended two minutes ago. How did I do?" She asks.

Her simulation's been over for two minutes and I didn't realize it! I don't know how well she did, so I just say. "Good."

She doesn't seem shaken or anything by the fear she just faced. She must've been expecting it. She thanks me and leaves the room. I look down at the chart and see that her name was the last one for the day.

I heave a sigh of relief and make my way down to the Pit. As expected Tris is not there but Eric is. When he sees me, he walks over.

"Hey bro! Where's Tris?"

"What's that got to do with you?" I ask him.

"What's that got to go with me? In case you've forgotten she's mine and you stole her from me." He says.

I give a small laugh and say. "Stole her? The last time I checked she wasn't even ready to go to the dance with you let alone be with you."

"Watch you tongue." With this he walks back to his company.

I spot Zeke sitting on a slab of rock with Uriah. When I walk over the both say. "Hey!"

"Hi." I say back.

"Done with Initiation?" Zeke asks.

"For the day." I tell him.

We talk about school and the teachers and how much homework they give us. Just normal student talk. Until Uriah says.

"I should get going."

"Wait. Have you seen Tris today?" I ask him.

"Yeah. I had first period with her." He says.

"Was she alright?" I ask him.

He nods and says. "I guess so. She was happy. She and Christina were talking about...I don't really know. Girl stuff, I guess but she was okay. Why do you ask?"

"Nothing. She didn't show up for Initiation so..." I trail off but Zeke understands what I mean, though Uriah gives me a confused look and walks away.

I sit down next to Zeke. He says. "She's okay. Probably just a headache or something."

I nod and try to console myself.

I'm still working on it when a person across the room catches my eye. I know who it is without having to think twice.

Our eyes meet and they're full of...hatred.

She turns away and hurries off with me close behind her.

I follow her into the hallway and call after her.

"Tris!"

I know this chapter is short and not that good but it's just a filler. I promise that the next chapter will be better. Plus, I didn't know what to name the chapter. Any suggestions? I want to change it.
