As we walked home that day, Spencer and I talked about Isla some more.
"So has Isla convinced her parents yet?"
"No. She might be able to let them invite me instead, though."
"Where are we going to get the money for that?""I've been saving up since I was younger."
"You knew your soulmate lived overseas?"
"I had a feeling she would be, considering all of elementary and middle school, every girl I ran into hadn't let me see in color. It also just didn't seem right that I would meet mine at school or in our country either."
"I see. Do you think mine is...?"
"For you... Um..." He stops, thinking for a moment. "I don't think so. I do think, however, you'll find him this week."
"What are you, a psychic?"
"Not necessarily. It's just a gut feeling.""So a psychic."
"Not a psychic."
"Sure, whatever you say, Spencer."
By the time our little spat was over, Spencer had gotten a ping from Isla. "She messaged me!" He exclaims excitedly.
"What'd she say?"
He takes a moment to read the message from Isla. "She says..."
"She says that her dad's all for letting her meet me. It's just convincing her mom that they need to do."
"Yay! Hopefully she'll be able to see you soon."
"I hope so. I'm pretty sure they can afford it more than we can, anyway." He laughs. "I mean - I know I said that I had saved some, but I don't know if it's enough."
"Fair point."We arrive home and walk through the door. I head up to my room and immediately call Evynne. "Serena! Why're you calling me all of a sudden? We literally talked on the way out."
"I know, I know. But this is important, I promise."
"Okay..." She's hesitant, but she listens.
"You know how I was telling you about Spencer's soulmate? Isla?"
"Yup, Updates on her?"
"She convinced her dad to let her visit. It's all just trying to get her mom to say yes."
"That's awesome. I hope Spencer will get to see her soon.""Fingers crossed."
