We stopped at the park right across the street from the mall downtown. Spencer and Isla figured that it would help us if we started here. "I'll text you when we're ready," Spencer tells Mom.

"Okay. I'll see you all in a bit. Be good."

"We will." We both respond at the same time.

"So, Isla, which way first?" Spencer asks.

"Let's go straight ahead."

"Okay." And so we started walking. I was to the left of Isla, and Spencer was on the right. Isla was in the middle. Isla turns to me. "Serena?"
"Hm?"

"Did you need to talk to somebody? You seemed totally out of it on the way here." Isla gave me a concerned look.

"I-" I pause. Did I really need to talk to someone? Would it be better for me? I mean, Isla's a good person. I'm sure she wouldn't judge me. "I guess I could talk to you." I respond quietly. "I do have something on my mind."

"I'm glad you can trust me, Serena." She smiles at me. "What's up?"

I sigh. "I texted Arlo earlier and he hasn't responded. Obviously I know he's busy, but it's been over an hour and I just can't stop worrying."

"I understand how that is." She responds. "It's pretty hard to wait for a response from someone, especially when you're not that patient. I know I'm not, so I'm not trying to be rude at all."

"No, I understand where you're coming from. I'm not very patient either."

Isla laughs a bit. "I see. Well, I'm sure Arlo's fine. You're still seeing in color, right?"

"Yes."

"See? Arlo's just fine."

I sigh again. "I guess I'm just overly worried."
But that worrying wasn't for nothing.

As soon as I took one step more, my color vision dropped from 100 to zero.

I screamed, trying not to pull myself back and down to the ground in tears.

Isla and Spencer stop, staring at me, very concerned.

"My color sight! It's gone!"
I know. Spencer and Isla are probably thinking 'What? Huh? She wasn't even that close to the guy.'

But they should understand more than anyone should understand.

"Arlo... he's... he's gone!"

The both of them turn to look at me. "Rina?" Spencer bends down to my height. He may be my twin, but he is still taller than me. "Isla, I need your help calming her down..."

Isla leans down into me as I try to control myself. She places her hand on my shoulder.

I knew my soulmate for three--well, I guess two and a half--days. And I spent half an hour with him on the first day.

Do I miss him? Or my color sight?

Both.
