I woke up again two hours later. I am now officially ready to start the day. I turn my phone back on to see what went down in the chat again, reading through what was there. A couple of messages from Spencer and Savanna, going back and forth. He obviously stayed awake after that to talk to them -- remembering that they're almost 14 hours ahead of us.

I quickly shoot a text to Lance before sliding out of my bed and heading down to the kitchen, being greeted by my mom making breakfast. "Good morning!" she chirps. She's very cheery this morning.

"Morning," I return, walking in. "How much longer do you think?"

"Not too much," she pauses, "did you see Savanna's text this morning?"

"I did!" I exclaim. "Harpy is sooo cute."

"I wonder if they kept the name he was given in his litter?" She asks.

"It's possible. I wouldn't think Harpy would've been something she would've picked initially."

"Do you think I should ask?"

"Wouldn't be a bad idea," I say, thinking. "Only when you get a chance though. That'd be cool to know if Harpy's littermates were named after different eagles too."
"They'll be up and down a lot with Harpy I think the next couple of nights, so they'll get the text eventually," she pauses again, "Although I do feel bad if they chose to name one of his siblings after the bald eagle."

I laugh. "I'm sure there's plenty of other eagles they could've chosen from," I stop a moment to look some up on my phone, "Like the harpy. Or Haast's. Or even the golden eagle."

"True," she chimes in.

"Plus, there were only so many pups in that litter. Now I obviously don't know how many, but I don't think it would've been all that many, especially with the Afghan Hounds being on the bigger side."
She nods in agreement with me as I continue. "Or maybe they're all just named after birds. Vulture would've been a cool name."

"Also very possible."

I keep rambling on about it for a while, laughing a bit at my sudden encyclopedic knowledge on this subject. "I'll text Savanna and ask, okay?"

"Sounds good, Serena. I'll be here in... uh, 30 seconds."
"I'm not even moving that far." I open the messages again and quickly type in the question about if the breeder used a naming theme (a lot of them do), or if she or Declan agreed that would be his name.

"You know, Serena, I was actually just thinking about how funny it would be if Harpy was a Basenji."
"The dogs that don't bark right?"
"Yeah, them. I mean, think about it."

I giggle. "Yeah. That'd be funny. But he's not a Basenji. You know Savanna's always wanted a dog like Harpy."

"Mhm," she hums, setting down her plate and then mine on the table, "Spencer went out with his friends this morning."

"Oh, I see. I'm assuming he grabbed something?" I follow her to the table and sit.
"I think they're all going out together, but I told him to grab something in case that changes."
"Oh, okay. Just us girls then for a while today?"

"As long as Lance isn't joining us," she teases.

"Nope. Not today." I smile, laughing.
