Spencer meets me outside of the school at the end of the day just like he normally does. "How'd it go, Rina?"
"Better than I expected it to," I smile, "they all took it really well, and are all happy for me...at least I'd hope!" I laugh awkwardly.

"I'm sure they are," he replies, bringing his arm around me, "I wouldn't think they'd hate you that much."

"I'm 99 percent sure they only put up with me because I'm Evynne's bestie. But, hey, I don't know."

"And it's kind of hard to ask. They could totally lie about that to you."
I nod. "Yeah. That's why I don't bother."

"But maybe now they might start to since you officially have your soulmate?"

I shrug. "Who knows."

We approach his car and both of us get in after Spencer unlocks it. I immediately pull my phone out of my back pocket, seeing if anyone texted me.

Lance! I smile, opening the message. Spencer looks over at me, seeing the childish grin on my face. "Lance?"
I laugh at him. "Duh."
"I've never seen you smile that wide for anyone else," he jokes.

I laugh. "Never?"

He shakes his head as he turns the key in the ignition and puts his car in reverse. I send a quick reply to Lance's message and just do a quick double-take of all my messages, just in case I accidentally put someone on mute and their message didn't go through. I put my phone back in my pocket as Spencer pulls out into the road. "What did Lance want?" he asks, his voice sounding curious.

"Why does it matter to you?" I ask, somewhat joking.

"I worry about you."

I laugh. "I was mostly joking, but I get it. He was just asking how my day went."

"Ohhhh." He laughs too. "Are you two going to be meeting up again anytime soon?"

"I plan to see him during winter break, but maybe I should before that."

"Winter break is two weeks away, Serena, can you really go that long without seeing him?" He laughs a little harder, indicating he's joking.

"Shut up!" I laugh, too, my face basically turning tomato red. "I might be able to, but I haven't tried since I started seeing color, doofus."

"Very true." He shrugs a little bit. "I'm just being honest, though. Many people can't go that long without seeing someone that's special to them."

I shrug. "Meh. I'll text him later to see when he's free. Maybe this weekend I'll see him and then only go one week."

"To prove a point?"

"Maybe." We both laugh again, and the conversation pretty much stops dead in its tracks as we continue towards home.

Later that night, I received a text back from Lance regarding our next... date.

I've really gotta get used to that word. It's still so weird to me. I guess I don't have to use it, but it just sounds right in this sense.

We approved the time and location (a little different, and even a farther distance from last time) and said we'd see each other soon. I couldn't wait to see him again.

Until then, though, I have to make it through this week.

That was gonna be hard.
