I spent the rest of the school day with Evynne's clique. Oh, and also doing school stuff, obviously. The clique doesn't need to know what happened with Arlo, so I just tell them I haven't found 'him' yet. Evynne and I are the only two in our friend group that haven't found our soulmates yet. Well... I guess really only Evynne, but, at the same time, not really.
When I had a free moment, I quickly texted Lance back. He'd get back to me when he got a free chance to.
I wonder if we'll actually meet face to face? Kinda doubt it, but knowing how close he is to Arlo, there's a chance we could, I guess. It sounds stupid now that I think about it.
I push that thought to the back of my mind as Spencer and I walk home. We're thankful our house is close to the school at this point. Spencer is able to drive, but he doesn't like to. Some days, though, he decides to. Just to show off, I think.
I can, too, but I prefer not to unless I want to be on my own. It's just not really my thing sometimes.
***********
Week after week, it's the same routine. Go to school. Do schoolwork. Come home. Text Lance. Play my guitar. Hang out with Spencer. Eat. Text Lance (again) and then text Evynne and the clique. Eventually fall asleep.
It's an endless cycle. But I still have variety in my life as new things come and go.
It's been a few months now since Lance and I first started talking--it's late November now. I haven't noticed anything new yet, but we're supposed to meet up after school today. I'm a little nervous, but I'm excited, too. It's the first time I've met up with anybody since Arlo. But, I'm ready.
I know that Lance was Arlo's best friend. That's a little weird to some people... I have no problem with it, I guess.
We seem to get along just fine... I mean, it's not even a date. Unless...
No.
Let's not think about that. I don't think he'd want that.
I definitely don't.
At least... not yet. If the world decides it's all about us, then that's how it'll be.
