The Red Queen (Hearts Are Red Like Roses X)

♡ Iracebeth's POV ♡

Heavy breathing and a tight grip on my waist woke me up, I fluttered my eyes open and realised I still have Amelia within my arms. Although I thought there was nothing to be concerned of, her whimpering and sniffing were heard 

Is she...crying?

The sun was already up, I looked at the clock and it was already 7:34am, just as when I wanted to move to look at her she tightened her grip a bit more and nuzzled her face on my chest "Iracebeth..." Amelia calling my name shook me "Please...d-don't go, I'm...sorry" I reclined myself from her, she had her eyes shut closed while tears streams out of it 

She's having a nightmare...of me?

I gently shake her shoulders to wake her up "Amelia, wake up" she opened her eyes, she looked around confusedly till her blue eyes met mine, we stared at each other, the she sat up straight and quickly wipes her tears away "Amelia, are you alright, dear?" I asked

"Y-Yeah...I'm q-quite alright..." I knew she was lying, anyone would know that

"Tell me the truth, Amelia" she stayed quiet for second before she looked at me with those watery icy eyes 

"You're going to hate me..." she admitted, I sat up and scooted close to her, placing my hands on her cheeks, I'm not usually this caring, but when I'm around her, I can't help, but to be tender and sweet with her 

"Let it out" I said, she closed her eyes and water slides down her cheeks

"I...I haven't been truthfully honest with you...I've been lying..."

"What do you mean?"

"I-I've lied about where I came from a-and about m-my mother being dead...I'm not from this place and my mother is certainly not dead..." I let go of her, my brows frowned and my heart sank, the only person I trust aside from Stayne lied to me "T-There's more..." I got off the bed and looked at her angrily

"Are any of the things you told me true?" 

"Alice...I know her...we came from the same place and...she's a friend of mine" I snapped at her and slapped her across the face

"WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME THIS?!?" I screamed and she flinched, body tensing up and for the first time in my life, I felt guilt

"BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID OF YOU! I lied at the beginning because I wanted to live and not be beheaded! And I don't know why the thought of escaping this place didn't came across my head! Then there comes you!" 

"What about me?" 

"I don't know what it is with you, I don't know what to feel about you! There would be days where you're sweet and kind, then other day you'd be crazy and mad! I don't know whether I should be afraid of you or like you!" what she last said took me by surprise

"Like me?" I queried

"I don't know" she cracked and keeps on shrugging "I really don't know. I keep having mixed feelings about you! My mind says that I should stay away from you as you can cut my head at any moment, but my heart says otherwise, it tells me to stay as we both need each other" 

 We both stayed silent for a moment till she decided to break it "But it doesn't matter what I feel, what matters is what you feel"

"I...I will admit that I...do feel things when I'm with you that I've never felt when I'm with Stayne" I admitted and scoffed

"Glad to know I make you feel things he can't, but please, don't ever compare me that one eye man" she stated and I rolled my eyes

"There are times where I wanted know more about you and always have you by my side" I then step closer to Amelia who has a questioning expression "Times where I'm wondering where you are" I paused and held her chin "Times where I wonder what you skin feels like..." she blushes at my statements and as I get closer to her face "Imagining the unimaginable"

Our lips were so close to each other that I could feel her soft breathing on mine "However, I'm sad to say that that day won't come till I know I could trust you again" I then withdraw from her and stood up straight 

"What-"

"GUARDS!" I cut her off, then the guards came in and took Amelia by the arm 

"Iracebeth, what are yo-"

"Take her to the dungeon and she will not be released till I figure out what to do with her" I commanded

"Yes, you majesty" the guards all said in the same time

♥︎Amelia's POV ♥︎

"I'm sorry, Amelia, but I can't trust you right now" Iracebeth said plainly, this is what I feared about, not about getting killed, but by losing her, I've grown a fond of her so much that I...ended up having feelings for her 

The guards pulled me away from her, I looked at her one last time as we began to make our way to dungeon and instead of her having a emotionless expression, her face was rather in a questioning state 

As we were walking through the corridors with each guard gripping my arms, at the distance we heard a clutter of noise, both of the guards turned and with each of them distracted, this was my chance to escape

I swiftly pulled my arm from the grip and sprinted for my life "Hey! Stop right there!" they yelled, but of course, I didn't stop

After a month of living here, I'd say I know the way around this castle pretty decently, when I made a sharp turn, the noise I heard from before started to grow even more clearer and louder, then a familiar voice yelled "Run, Alice! " followed by a gasp, it was Mallymkun 

Shoot! Her cover has been blown!

Not a second later, I saw Alice exiting a room, in her hand I noticed that she has gotten the Vorpal sword "C'mon!" I hurried and she ran towards me

"Do you know a way where we could escape from here?" Alice asked as she runs along side me 

"Maybe" I snickered, we went down the stairs and into the Bandersnatch's little house 

"What are we doing here?" 

"The queen's beast is our escape. Don't worry, I'm the one who's been feeding him and treating his wounds, so there's nothing to be worried about...At least, I hope so" I said and mumbled the last part

I opened the door that was already unlock thanks to Alice and gently approached the beast, he growled when he saw a person entering his place "Hi there, how are you?" I raised my hand in front of him and let him sniff me to remember me, once he got a good sniff, his eyes softened and sat with an ugly yet handsome grin, he's almost like a dog, now that I think about it

"Good boy, why don't we go for a run with two extra weights, hm?" he grumbled and followed me out of his den "Alice, hop on, before they come" when she got on the Bandersnatch, she nearly nicked me with the sword "Woah! Watch where you swing that thing! God knows what that thing might do, I doubt that's just a normal sword"

"Sorry" she said, I nodded and hopped on him too, behind Alice

The guards started to arrive, Bandersnatch roared, then ran out of the castle and along the way we met a dog "Oh, Alice!"

"Bayard! To Marmoreal!" Bayard barked and followed us to Marmoreal, where I assume the White Queen is. I looked back at the castle with a heavy feeling on my chest, I turned back and held onto Alice's waist, placing my head on her back 

She noticed my behaviour and rubbed on of my hands "It's alright, Amelia, everything is alright" she cooed to comfort me, it worked a little bit, but I doubted her words

I doubt everything is alright. I don't even know why I didn't made an effort of escape that place, my head is spiralling with thoughts that are uncontrollable, my mind's a mess, my life's a mess, where I am is a mess and I am...brutal mess
