4 - "Quit flirting and let's go"

Penny leaves the room to join us
"Come on, I'll show you around" she skips off ahead

I feel like I've been walking forever we've seen the cafeteria, the training rooms and all the classrooms and I do mean all the classrooms.
Blondie looks like she'll collapse any second, I make eye contact with Jaune who also looks exhausted, he moves to fall into step with me
"If we don't stop soon I'm sleeping here on the floor" I chuckle
"I'll join you" I say flippantly without thinking, I only notice how that sounds when I see Saph's look and her wink, my face heats up slightly and I walk slightly quicker to fall into step with my sister leaving a confused Jaune behind

Little Rose has started to yawn and Nora leans against Ren trying to stay upright

"This is all really great Penny but where are we staying?" Little Rose asks letting out another yawn
"Remember you're in Atlas now, as the most well funded school every teen gets their own room and if that wasn't enough...."
"So we're staying in the dorms?" Little Rose asks
"It'll be just like Beacon again!" Penny jumps up and down unable to hide her giddiness, I jump when I hear Nora fall to the floor, I'm jealous, that girl can sleep anywhere.

We pile onto the dorm corridor and all randomly pick a room to sleep in, me making sure mine is far from Jaune's, and the moment my head hits the soft pillow I'm out like a light.

Timeskip

I stand next to Ash in the airship heading for the mines, my mind drifts back to getting my new combat gear and my enhanced weapon, it now stays as a spear but I can change the length of the spear with a small button and the blade at the end can shoot out and last but by no means least it has a dust chamber in the top inside the blade meaning I can literally harness dust power when wielding it.

It's so much less complicated having the end blade shoot out instead of having to change it to a bow or cross bow, I love not having to carry arrows.

"Are you three ready?" Clover grabs our attention and we all nod before heading for the airship doors and jumping, I open my arms enjoying the free falling feeling before I grab my spear and shoot out the end allowing it to attach to a pole at the bottom, I swing around it and land gracefully beside Coral.

Clover comes up beside us and pulls out his scroll to contact the other two squads
"This is Alpha squad. All clear here, proceeding on foot." He pauses "you've all got fancy new scrolls so don't forget to use em. Keep your eyes and ears open. I want an update if you encounter the target. Alpha out."

We all follow him into the ice cave
"Bloody hell it's cold" Ash shivers and stops moving
"We're in an ice cave what did you expect" I mutter
"We just need to keep moving, come on you two" Coral gestures us to move into step with her

"The walls are odd here, what's with all the weird colours" Ash comments
"Dust has embedded itself into the walls" Clover speaks over his shoulder
"Oh" Ash continues to look at the dust markings

"I'm still not used to working with other Huntsmen in the field" Qrow randomly speaks up

"You were on a team before though weren't you?" Clover asks him, Qrow sighs
"A long time ago, I find working alone tends to be the best for me and everyone else"

"Wow really ruining the mood" I snort
"Well that's a shame" Clover answers Qrow, before he even finishes the last word Qrow slips and would have fallen hard on his back had Clover not caught him and pulled him back onto his feet

Clover takes out his scroll once again
"Alpha here I want a report"

"The connecting ice tunnels seem clear. We should be approaching the actual mine any minute now" Vine responds

We continue on for a moment before the other squad checks in
"Bravo checking in, hit a bit of a snag" Harriet informs "there's been a cave in at the main entrance. May take a moment to get through, not sure if it's recent or not"

"Understood, let us know if you need anything" Clover offers

We stop in our tracks when the Geist floats out of a crack in the ground, Qrow immediately starts shooting at it and Ash throws his boomerang but the Geist is fast and the bullets don't penetrate

"All squads head to our position" Clover instructs
The Geist summons ice blocks to it and creates a strong body of ice.
"Well that's cheating" I gesture to the monster it's now become
"Wait stop" we all jump back when a beam falls and the beast detaches from the ice i shoot out the blade of my spear but it quickly dodges and disappears into the cave
"Darn it" Clover sighs "Target escaped" he informs the squads "last seen heading east" he turns to Qrow "thanks for the heads up"
"I wouldn't thank me" Qrow contradicts "my semblance brings misfortune"
"That so" Clover raises an eyebrow, I notice Coral and Ash are simply watching the two men converse as I am "well hey don't beat yourself up about it" he casts his line around a beam and pulls it to the ground with a load of rocks that covers the whole in the path the Geist had created. "My semblance is good fortune, lucky you" he winks at Qrow

I sigh losing the last bit of my patience
"Quit flirting and let's go" i lead the way down the tunnel

"Bravo you should be able to cut the target off at the heart of the mine. We won't be far behind"

I turn to see Qrows finally following us, I look over my shoulder at my teammates
"And here was me thinking it'd be you two flirting that would disturb me" Ash smirks "that doesn't mean start"
"You always ruin my fun" Ash mockingly groans

"Everyone be cautious" Vine speaks to us over the communicator "this room is highly active with dust energy. Triggering it could ruin the launch site"

"And vaporise us" Marrow adds exasperatedly "why do you always forget that?!" Coral, Ash and I chuckle at the comment

We enter the heart of the mine just in time as a piece of dust falls to the ground and Clover 'luckily' catches it.
"What would you guys do without me?" He comments holding the glowing dust crystal before throwing it back to Qrow, Clover salutes to him before jumping off the cliff and joining the fight alongside the ace-ops
"He's a show off" I roll my eyes
"Yeah...........though I wish I had his semblance" Ash mutters
