25: stories and log rolling

Luffy's POV

"So what's the next game?" Chopper asked as we walked about deck" I was thinking log rolling and the winner is the last man standing." Shanks said, I froze, mouth agape' seriously? Are you trying to find more opportunities to tease me?' I thought facepalming.

"You do know that 6 of us have devil fruits and will drown if we fall off." Yamato said" I know, if you lose your balance and risk falling, bail before you fall into the drink. How does that sound?" Shanks asked but I didn't even listen remembering the first time I did log rolling.

"So what are some of the games in a Davy Back fight?" I asked," the games are simple in testing one's strength, if you lose you join a pirate crew, goo way to get a strong crew, the longer you look back the games are more brutal but still simple, the whole purpose is to prove your pride and log rolling is one of those games." Shanks said.

"Did you do any davy backs with another crew?" I asked," no, we still have yet to do one but someday we will if I'm interested in getting my hands on a strong person or defending our honor." He said," what about your hat?" I asked," if I do give my hat to someone and I want it back then I'll challenge the person to a davy back fight, I'm pretty competitive and willing to do anything to win and get it back." Shanks said.

"What if someone names a pirate crew after the hat?" I asked," then the davy back will be to prove your pride and if you win, you keep the hat, lose and I'll take it back and the crew will have to change the name." Shanks said as the log fell into the water" yo kid, want to try log rolling?" Lex asked" you do know I'm 6 right? I'd fall off the log in a couple of minutes and you'd be laughing and teasing me like a bunch of kids but sure." I said.

"We're mature!" Shanks shot back" no, you're not, your more childish than the kid, me and Benn treat him like he's a kid most of the time." Mac said pointedly" see! I'm right you idiot!" I said, he grumbled" ok fine, I admit I'm more childish than the 6-year-old brat." He said hopping onto the log, Benn picking me up and jumping onto the log, putting me down, and Lex joining us on the log as I'm trying to get my balance.

"Are we trying to sink this?" I asked," no, 4 people is enough, let's go." Shanks said and we start log rolling, I'm sprinting just to keep to try and keep up, the others are just jogging like it's not a big deal, I was sent flying into the way a minute later not even hearing the others laughing when I surfaced.

"You could at least go a little slower!" I yelled" sorry kid, you can't keep up, are your legs crampy?" Shanks asked," Oh shut up!" I shot back then shrieked when Shanks jumped off diving into the water, shielding my face as the spray flew at me.

Swimming as fast I can, trying to get back to shore before Shanks had time to mess around with me in the water but he was faster lifting me up with me screaming and throwing me back in the water pretending to be a shark and I'm the prey.

"Oh my god, why?" I asked looking over to Shanks in disbelief" ever do log rolling?" Zoro asked," I have, once, I lasted a minute and you say I told you so if I nearly drown if I do this, I'm guessing you started a bet on how long I'll last before teasing me mercilessly." I said flatly glancing over to Roux, Shanks chuckled nervously.

"I won't, I won't, I promise. I haven't forgotten about the blackmail bi-where's Roux? Aw shit." he started before noticing Roux is gone before reappearing behind him having put a hand on his shoulder" tere-tere; sea." Roux said and Shanks is gone then reappears over the water and down he goes, the rest of us fell apart laughing.
