"𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐜𝐲."

Cody couldn't even feel 10% alright at breakfast with paparazzi clicking pictures through the windows.

Normally, he wouldn't be getting chased by these people. But since today marked year 3 since Corey's passing, everyone was wondering where the missing Dodger star Cody Bellinger was since he wasn't at the mural.

It wasn't that he didn't want to be at the mural. He wanted more than anything to be there to embrace Mady and Corey's family, or lay some pretty blue flowers next to it.

But Cody knew he mentally couldn't. He didn't know how he would react. When he wasn't a drunk mess his emotions were still walking on eggshells.

Cody watched as a frowning Kacie got out of her chair and lowered the blinds.

Cody loved Kacie. Kacie was his soulmate. More than anything through this he was scared to lose her. He was scared to lose her soft smile, the way she could read his mind and know how he was feeling, but most importantly her love. The way she looked at him like he was still her world after everything he'd done to her. She was strong, and Cody adored her, but wished he could be as strong as her.

Kacie came and sat back down. She didn't glance at him, just stirred her tea.

Cody laid his hand on top of hers from across the table. She looked up and smiled at him as her fingers rubbed his palm.

"We can go if you want." She whispered.

"We can..." he trailed, "But if we do, the moment we step outside we'll get attacked by a reporter and booed by paparazzi." He weakly laughed.

Kacie grinned larger than ever. He smiled. That made her smile. She missed his smile.

"I guess we'll be here for a while then."

"I can live with that."
