A/N— this is where the book gets kind of random. i had someone else in mind that kacie was gonna b with but it made the story weird so i chose christian pulisic 💀💀
Kacie hesitated to hang up the phone. The football match had just finished, and she had been sitting there waiting for the crowd to get through and leave, so once it was empty she could figure out where she was going, but and then, she received a call from her brother, Leighton.
He had called her and informed her that she was set to receive 4.4 million dollars because Cody had sold the home. Not to mention all the furniture that was being returned to her as well.
In a way it made her feel happy he wouldn't be living there. She knew him well enough that if he did their memories would eat him alive as a new woman lied next to him.
She truly hoped, at least.
After talking to him for a few minutes, she figured she should get going and say goodbye. But not without the battle of trying to figure out whether she should bring up how Cody was doing.
Her brother Leighton had always been close with Cody, and seemed to be almost as shattered as she was when he found out what happened.
But then again, it was a shock to everyone. Just when things had started to go right... life starts over and goes wrong. Almost like the leaves that turn crisp and die in the fall, just to grow back and begin again.
Kacie decided to just hang up and leave it at rest, though she knew she would just be left to ponder about how he was doing.
She made her way out of the stadium and into the parking lot. Busy people were honking their horns and eager to leave, especially after the tie that left both sides of fans unhappy and disappointed.
Her phone buzzed, as she looked down and realized it was a text from the boy who'd given her the tickets– Mason– and he had asked her to meet him outside of the team's dressing room.
Before she could ask where that was and why, he typed 'I want you to meet someone'
Sighing, Kacie could only guess this was the guy he'd been pushing for her to meet for months now.
Kacie decided to agree, and eventually got directions and access to the dressing rooms, due to the badge she was given when she first got into the stadium because she was in Mason's family section.
As soon as she got to the dressing rooms, she went ahead and texted Mason that she was outside, wanting to get this thing over with so she could go home and get all of her lesson plans for Monday then relax until she had to get back to work.
"Hey!" a head peaked through the cracked door.
Kacie smiled and waved, it was Mason. He eventually came out from behind the door and closed it.
"I know you said you weren't interested but..." he started, his strong accent seeping through each word. The way people said things around here was funny, but now that she'd been living here for a few months it was starting to grow on her, and she found herself talking with a slight accent sometimes.
Kacie then nodded, motioning for him to continue.
"...But I think you'll really like him." he finished, a cheeky grin on his face.
"Alright," Kacie shrugged, with a soft smile. The least she could do was meet the guy. It didnt mean she wanted to be anything serious, but her main fear was having her partner think it was something even though she didn't see it that way.
Mason then knocked on the locker room door a couple times, and eventually a guy about the same age came out, and looked awkwardly between her and Mason.
Mason was the first to speak, as the other guy looked very confused at what was going on.
"Christian, this is Kacie. Kacie, this is Christian!"
Kacie smiled while being introduced, as Christian held out a hand for her to shake and said, "It's nice to meet you, Kacie."
Surprised that he was American, Kacie returned, "It's nice to meet you too, Christian. You're American as well?"
"Psh, yeah... they tease me about it." he laughed, giving Mason a playful slug, "I dont think I've ever met another American person here besides my family," Christian smiled.
Beaming, Kacie friskily shrugged, "I guess I'm the first,"
Kacie couldn't deny that he was cute. He had dark soft hair and rich brown eyes. He was short for a guy, standing at what looked to be only about 5'10, but that was still 5 inches taller than her. Chrisitan also had tattoos visible on his arms that looked to extend past his shoulder and probably onto his chest. Not to mention his muscles. God he was fit.
"See? You guys are already forming a bond!" Mason cheered, extending his arms around the both of them.Christian rolled his eyes as he released himself from Mason's grasp and shyly asked, "I mean- if you wanna get coffee–" he stuttered, "As friends, if you're with that?"
Kacie nodded, realizing the pinkish tint on Christian's cheeks that had started to appear, "Of course! Here, why don't you put your number in my phone?" she agreed, opening up her contacts and offered her phone to him.
"Sure thing," he nodded, before focusing on putting his number into Kacie's phone and typed out a quick 'Hi' to himself, then handing the phone back to her, "It was really nice meeting you! I'll text you tonight!"
"You too! And of course, text me whenever!" she twinkled, flashing her perfect white teeth.
"Bye Kace," Mason waved, as the two went back into the dressing room. As soon as they got in, Mason smirked at Chrsitian, "Told ya you'd like her. And she's American. Who knew that would be your turn on?
"Mason, please..." Christian blushed.
"I can't wait to tell Ben! I think I've finally won that $200 for finding you the perfect match," he winked, running of to go find his other best friend.
Christian didn't really like girls. He wanted to focus on his job, which was to play well and work hard. But once he saw Kacie that may have all changed.
She was gorgeous, not in a celebrity-model-movie star way, but in a refreshing down-to-Earth way. He could tell she didn't wear a ton of makeup, all natural. And the few times she smiled he felt himself blush. Not to mention the curiosity that surrounded her familiarity.
As soon as Christian got back to his locker he immediately pulled out his cellphone, and added Kacie to his contacts. He knew he'd said he'd text her tonight but he had a feeling that'd probably change.
