On the way to the Freeman house Kacie decided it was time to call Belle. If she was in the car and the conversation went sideways, it was easy enough to hang up and say she just got to the Freeman's house and she'd call again later.
"Hello?" Belle's voice echoed through Kacie's car.
"Hey Belle," Kacie responded.
"Nice of you to call," she deadpanned.
"We get on the phone and that's seriously the first thing you say to me after the sh*t you pulled on Christmas?" Kacie rolled her eyes, knowing even though Belle couldn't see her she definitely knew she was.
"Whatever Kacie. I'm sorry," she started, some annoyance in her voice but a hint of sympathy in the sorry.
"So you drove Christian to the airport alright?" Kacie asked, after a brief silence.
"Yeah. You should probably talk to him."
"Did he say if he was serious about us being done? Or whatever the hell that was?" Kacie didn't really have reason to be angry at Christian. Her siblings were unpredictable sometimes, and if they have a motive they'll say things to make you uncomfortable. What really bothered her was Christian essentially broke up with her without even telling her what Leighton said to him, and nobody would tell her.
The greatest fear she had was that Leighton didn't even say anything that warped or rude. Her younger brother had a rather random sense of humor, and found very strange things funny because of the industry he works in.
Although, it was also safe to say that because of the industry he worked in he didn't have a filter. He always knew what he wanted, had a way to insist he got it, and if he wanted something for someone else, he was definitely going to get it.
Kacie always knew Leighton didn't like Christian. Not because Christian was a piece of sh*t, but because he was never gonna have a bond like he did with Cody. When Kacie and Cody first met, Leighton was barely out of highschool, and had a very hard time considering their mother had just left and was the only one living in the house with their dad and his girlfriend. When Cody came around him and Leighton became best friends, she didn't know how. They just clicked, and at one point she was convinced Leighton trusted Cody as much as he trusted her. With that being said... it wouldn't be out of sight that Leighton said something sideways to Christian that ticked him off and made him uncomfortable.
"Kacie, I don't know!" Belle shrieked, "If you had just kept your word and cut all contact from Cody none of this would've happened. I don't get why it's my job or fault to report back to you about this stuff or keep your relationships in line!"
Kacie was nearly appalled at what Belle claimed. Kacie had never made it Belle's job to drive Christian to the airport or get information. As far as Kacie knew Christian was a big boy and could call an Uber and get on a plane himself, not with Belle or Kacie Moore's assistance.
"Why are you making it your job to bring whatever this relationship is back together like it wasn't your fault in the first place?" the girl asked rather calmly, trying not to get short with her sister since she obviously was trying to turn this into.
"Don't put this on me, Kacie. Leighton said some stupid sh*t." Belle stated coldly.
"Yeah, well that doesn't mean you have to beat him up, Belle! This would be a lot less of a disaster if Leighton could've just apologized to Christian! You've said it yourself, Leighton has a warped sense of humor and says stuff that's out of line because he doesn't know better and his mom never told him how and how not to do stuff because she was long gone by the time he was fourteen! He never had to get the sh*t that I got about staying quiet and sitting pretty because his father raised him through his adolescence!"
