Cody listened from around the corner as he heard Kacie hang up, without telling her boyfriend she loved him back.
He mentally pumped his fist from around the corner. His main priority was getting justice for Corey, but in order to make everything right, it was in his plans to get the girl too.
Despite all of their childish arguments that had plagued this last week, he still wanted her.
And he thinks Kacie still wants him, too.
"What're you doing?" McKenzie [Buehler] asked, unknown to Cody that she'd just walked in through the front door.
Cody haistily spun around to face the voice, trying to come up with a good explanation to why he was hiding behind the coat rack and listening in on Kacie's business, "Nothing," he stuttered.
"She's happy, Cody. Leave her be."
But if she was here, he knew he couldn't.

Leighton's head laid against the cold counter, as he tried to take in all the new details of Corey's case while three people tried to explain it to him at once.
Next to him, was Kacie, who was almost as confused as he was.
Finally, he became so overwhelmed he sat up and said, "You guys can't sue anyone if we don't even have the suspect. In the meantime, can someone please write this all down." he trailed, with a sigh.
"Yeah, I'll get on that." Micheal stated.
Cody looked pretty upset at what Leighton had to say. He didn't like that the man who killed Corey was still somewhere out there as well. The good thing though, was they had the liscense plate number of the suspect.
Mady's phone buzzed, and Kacie had taken it upon herself to take all the important calls since she was a wreck at the moment.
She saw it was Kyle, Corey's brother, and immediately left the kitchen to take the call.
Micheal got up as well, saying he'd come back tomorrow since he had to help his father move stuff into his new restaurant downtown.
Mckenzie then went back upstairs to check on Mady.
Now, the only two people left in the kitchen were Leighton and Cody.
The two hadn't seen each other face-to-face in awhile, but their phone conversations were always the best.
Their conversation started out with the usual, they'd talk about sports and business, then about each of their families. But then came the subject of Kacie, of which Leighton really wanted to discuss.
"Have you talked to Kace?" he started, using the nickname she hated.
"Not really," Cody was hesitant with his response. He wondered if he should add in all their little arguments and childish exchanges that he'd never seen a girl like Kacie having in a million years.
"Are you gonna pitch me the plan to win her back?" Leighton raised an eyebrow.
A sour expression crossed Cody's face, trying to make it seem odd that Leighton would say that.
"What? You think I couldn't see that little tiny brain of yours slowly working as you creepily stared at her these past thirty minutes?"
Cody bitterly lifted his nose up at Leightons comment, and insisted, "There is nothing between us. We hate each other's guts."
Leighton crossed his arms and rolled his eyes, "Whatever," as he got up from the barstool and walked towards the couch, where Trea had somehow ended up and was passed out on like a homeless zombie. Smirking, before he sat down on it he directed to Cody, "You better get her soon, because I don't wanna tell that Christian guy he's sleeping outside next time they visit."
